Don’t select the clips. Select the edit point between the clips.

Try selecting the join (either side) and hitting the delete key. Works fine.

Not sure why you’re having problems. The viewer has to be active so maybe you need to hit CMD+3 to make sure it’s active before hitting Enter?
[Jeremy Garchow] “_Trim to playhead function”
I had to look this one up because I use Trim End and Trim Start and Trim to Selection all the time. Do you think I should fill out a Feedback form for misspellings? 🙂

You can make some or most of the Slide transition as Motion effect. You’d have to do it by scratch though since that particular effect wasn’t created in Motion. Usually when an effect is coded separately outside of the Motion engine, it usually means that there’s an aspect of it that doesn’t react properly in the Motion to FCPX translation. But most of the slide effects should be copyable inside Motion.

[Bret Williams] “In X, the shift stupidly negates the alt ( option ) key in this case.”
Exactly. This annoys me to no end because I have 12 years muscle memory of doing this in Legacy.

[Jeremy Garchow] “Keyboard command to simultaneously open and place the cursor in the search field of the Effects panel, as well as Generators, Music, etc”
I know you want it in one shortcut, but if you hit SHIFT+TAB after hitting your shortcut for Effects Browser, you can get into the search bar without clicking.

1) Select the 5 clips. Change the Camera Angle name for all 5 at the same time by opening the inspector and making the change there (under info tab)
Then, when you sync the multiclip together, it’ll place all the clips in the same track.
2) You can easily move clips from one track to another in a multiclip, simply drag and drop into the track you like. You can sync them manually, or attempt to use audio sync by clicking the down arrow next to the angle name and choosing Sync to Monitoring Angle. You can also add new tracks or clips at any time from the event browser (again, by drag and drop).
If you are talking about a compound clip (different than a multiclip), you just need to make sure that you’re using the position tool (P) if you’re moving one clip and don’t want it snapping to the existing clip in the primary storyline.

You may need a specific plugin for ingesting this footage similar to how you need the XF Plugin for Canon C300 footage. I’d look around for a Sony plugin for FCPX.

[Mark Morache] “This didn’t work for me. I know I’ve been able to import directly into FCPX before, but I think Mavericks broke that.”
It’s not Mavericks, at least not directly. However, it’s possible that you have something else; some other plugin or program that might be affecting it.
Have you tried creating a new user and then installing the plugin? Here’s how you know if the install works. When you unpack it, you should get an xpfm211 disk image on your desktop. Double click for the installer. Double click installer to run. You’ll get the following splash screen.
Follow the instructions and then Exit installer. If you can’t get to that point, then something else is going on. If a new user doesn’t work, perhaps creating a partition with a fresh install of mavericks would help?
