Michael’s right. You need the C300 plugin for FCPX. As of today, they haven’t made one specifically for Mavericks, so if you have 10.1, you need to download the plugin for Mountain Lion which works fine.
Go to this website:
Click on Drivers and Support. It auto detects your OS so if you’re running Mavericks, switch to Mountain Lion. Twirl down the Software section and download the Canon XF Plugin for FCPX 2.1.1

[Jeremy Garchow] “You can expand audio components right in the timeline as well (I have it mapped to shift-e, I can’t remember if that’s the default shortcut).”
The default is CTL+OPT+S

[Michael Harrington] “My original question remains, How do you close an open project or timeline or Lane?”
To answer this question, there is no “Close Project” command. You can either open another project, or you can delete a project.
EDIT: A third thing. You can close the library which will close the project. But you must have at least one Library open so if it’s your only one, create a new library before closing the problem one.
I agree with Bret. Close FCPX and restart to clear the undo cache.

I have no problem deleting a project that’s currently open. Is it possible that you’re dealing with clips that are transcoding or rendering? Try opening your background processes and pausing or canceling anything in there.

Are you trying to delete it from within FCPX? I do that all the time by just selecting the project and hitting CMD+Delete. There might be something else going on. Have you backed all the way back in your timeline history (not sure if that would make a difference, just throwing it out there). Maybe there’s something different about your event or library.
Try making a new library and create and delete a project from there. Can you do it?

February 20, 2014 at 1:49 am in reply to: Mass moving items (and keyframes) in the timelineWell, based on your description, I would myself tried to do everything with behaviors so that position could change but the resize/spin animation wouldn’t, but it’s hard to say if I’d be able to without seeing the project.
There’s one other thing you can try, but I hesitate to mention it because once you do it, you can’t really go back. You can convert behavior animation into keyframes which would then give you keyframes for all your animation and make adding space a little easier.
You select the behavior and I think the shortcut is CMD+Y. Not sitting at a machine so I’m not entire positive. Doing it will remove the behavior from your layer and replace it with keyframed animation. Useful, but then you use the duplicating usefulness of behaviors.

February 20, 2014 at 12:42 am in reply to: Mass moving items (and keyframes) in the timelineWell, there are a couple of tricks that could help regarding repeating animation. If it were keyframes only, you could use the “repeat keyframes” feature. If you don’t know about it, you can check out my tutorial on advanced keyframing in Motion. It’ll be towards the end.
Since you have a mix of keyframes and behaviors, that won’t work fully for you so you could try the clone trick. That’s where you place your animation in a group and then clone the group. You turn off the group and use the clone like a clip that you can trim and reclone or duplicated to repeat complicated animations. Maybe something there would help you?

February 20, 2014 at 12:24 am in reply to: Mass moving items (and keyframes) in the timelineThere’s no magic bullet here since the complexity of trying to do what you want is entirely dependent upon the complexity of the project.
You can fairly easily move keyframed animation down the project timeline, and you can change the start and ends of behaviors easily. But how those two things react to one another can only be determined by how you’ve set up your project.
If all you’re doing is keyframe animation, then lasso the keyframes and move them, or use the box tool to shrink or stretch them. If all you’re using are behaviors, then adjust the INs and OUTs on the layers so that non-animated moments have no behaviors applied.
Perhaps if you can provide an example of something you’re trying to do and having trouble I can be of more specific help.

[Justin Crowell] “Andy: for your method do you work like this?
1) Set In
2) Set Out
3) CMD+K, type keyword (or keywords)
4) Hit Escape
5) Repeat!”Pretty much. I use the shortcuts a lot too.

Yeah, that’s a big pain and also one of the reasons I don’t do multiple IN/OUTs on a clip at once. I don’t trust any function that doesn’t have an undo in case I fumble the shortcut key. Instead, I select one range at a time and keyword or favorite and then move on. Works pretty fast for me.
