When you copied the clips to your hard drive did you copy the full folder structure and contents of the CF card, or just the MXF media files only?
If the former then you should be able to press the “+” button at top left of the Log and Transfer window and navigate to the folder containing the FC card data … if you add that containing folder then it should see the contents and let you ingest from there.

Right off the top, they said 64 bit, Grand Central Dispatch and Open CL support … that means a lot of things, amongst them that the GPU is used.

What are you using to create the Scroll Scott? In Boris Title Crawl you can set “Animation Style” to Scroll and keyframe the “Percent Completion” parameter to control how it moves (have to enable “Use Percent Completion” parameter first).

Never with FCP. Have Mercalli it on our EDIUS PC’s tho and I get excellent results amazingly quickly. Sorry, not very helpful.

Assume we’re talking about the Smoothcam filter. You might exporting a small example portion of the clip and then try adjusting the various parameters available in the Smoothcam filers controls to see if that improves your results. Or look at some of the commercial alternatives available, like ProDAD’s Mercali V2:

For a one stop plugin you can get Eyeheight’s complianceSuiteFC : https://www.eyeheight.com/complianceSuite.asp … not cheap but the dogs bollocks of BS filters. I don’t use it myself but I have one of their hardware legalizers in the rack for those occasions when I really need it.

What I/O card (or box) are you using to play this into the 1500 … and how is it connected to the deck?
What is the source format / sequence format in FCP … and what is your Video Playback setting?
And do you have the optional PDBK-S1500 hardware key that’s required for DVCAM and MPEG IMX recording on that deck?

Yes, you told us you need to record this as SD … 720p is HD, not SD. Do you need to record this onto the deck in SD or not?

What is telling you that you need to downmix, an error message on the deck or an error message in FCP? Can you confirm that you really are “Playing out to XDCAM” as this thread is titled? Or are you actually exporting to XDCAM using FAM (File Access Mode) ie using FCP’s Export > Sony XDCAM … option (installed as part of Sony XDCAM Transfer / XDB)? That’s an entirely different matter.
