How about a ProRes transcode on ingest option.
Better yet, how about opening it up for import from all XDCAM camera formats, not just EX … support for import from XDCAM optical media etc

Question if I may. What is the distinction you’re drawing between what you’re calling an Adjustment Layer and an otherwise regular Generator effect? I should probably just look, but am guessing its something to do with using a Title Effect (ie not a Generator) for non-titling purposes, or something like that. Thanks for the insight.

The “detailed” trimming feedback allows for a 2-up display so that you can see in and out of the trimmed clip. For a relevantly detailed view in a slide operation you would need a 4-up display, and FCP X does not support that.

When you slug? Do you mean when you ripple, roll, slip or slide a slug? And are we talking about “gap” clips here or have you created a slug clip using an FCPX generator? Sorry for all the questions.

Sorry Brent, I don’t think thats quite correct, FCP Log and Transfer does not transcode XDCAM footage to ProRes as your post seems to suggest, it simply copies over the native video essence from the XDCAM source files to your Scratch disc, and saves them there in Quicktime Movie wrappers. It does do a transcode for some tapeless media formats certainly, but not for any XDCAM format, not the last time I looked.

Any difference in quality would be insignificant … direct capture to ProRes via the AJA IoHD would be by far the fastest route.
