Camera Import SDK
Camera manufacturers can use the Camera Import SDK to write plug-ins for importing media from a wide range of cameras. For example, Sony is updating their XDCAM EX plug-in to support native import directly into Final Cut Pro X.Ian, anything you can add to this?
An update to Cinemon?

September 20, 2011 at 4:19 pmHow about a ProRes transcode on ingest option.
Better yet, how about opening it up for import from all XDCAM camera formats, not just EX … support for import from XDCAM optical media etc

September 22, 2011 at 5:13 pmChomping at the bit for this was as I’m importing yet another two plus hours of EX video into FCPX. The workflow is slow enough to make AVCHD look like a speedy alternative, as odd as that sounds.
With AVCHD I can enable/disable a background transcode to ProRes and can work with the video immediately regardless. I’d ultimately like EX to work the same way and that long records import as an appropriately joined clip.
Waiting eagerly for any more info on this, Ian.

December 16, 2011 at 10:34 pmIan any update on FCPX plugin. It’s a topic of discussion in the FCPX “Debate” forum.
People are looking for EX .mp4 as well as XDCAM .mxf support. -

February 16, 2012 at 10:05 pmWe will be showing the updated XDCAM workflows for FCP X at NAB in April.
I can’t say anything else specifically right now but I will add that for EX the planned workflow is consistent with what has already been suggested/reported elsewhere.
We will also have an updated XDCAM optical disc workflow.
Thanks everyone for hanging in there.
If you are at NAB this year, drop by the XDCAM/XM-Pilot area and say hello..

Cheers,
