FCPX updates mention future XDCAM EX Plugin for native import

Better yet, how about opening it up for import from all XDCAM camera formats, not just EX … support for import from XDCAM optical media etc

Chomping at the bit for this was as I’m importing yet another two plus hours of EX video into FCPX. The workflow is slow enough to make AVCHD look like a speedy alternative, as odd as that sounds.

With AVCHD I can enable/disable a background transcode to ProRes and can work with the video immediately regardless. I’d ultimately like EX to work the same way and that long records import as an appropriately joined clip.

Waiting eagerly for any more info on this, Ian.

Ian any update on FCPX plugin. It’s a topic of discussion in the FCPX “Debate” forum.
People are looking for EX .mp4 as well as XDCAM .mxf support.

We will be showing the updated XDCAM workflows for FCP X at NAB in April.

I can’t say anything else specifically right now but I will add that for EX the planned workflow is consistent with what has already been suggested/reported elsewhere.

We will also have an updated XDCAM optical disc workflow.
