I know your pain and the color problems with Compressor, even with 8bit video when encoding to h264.
But I bet you’ll be amazed how good colors you can get using Episode 5.0…
And the speed of encoding is several times faster… with very good output.
It costs (I’m using regular not Pro version) but it’s good piece of software.

Michael,
Yes I have Express34 card and 7200rpm SATA 2.5inch drive.
My only concern was is AJA io -> internal FW400 connection is already tested by someone to properly yield data stream of 1920×1080 ProRes422HQ…
It should but I just wanted to know is it absolutely necessary to buy a new computer with FW800…regards

Hi David,
Thanks for reply.
Do you think I can use AJA io for 1920×1080 ProRes422HQ with Fw400?
I should be OK in theory but I want to confirm that anybody was using AJA io connected to FW400 with 1920×1080 ProRes422HQ video (I’m reading that SD is working that way). What brand of SATA drives are you using?
Software/hardware RAID0?
2.5 – 3.5 inch drives?
The problems was on empty or filled drives?regards

Hi Bob,
I feel uncomfortable with MXO especially when using jog wheel, shuttle wheel. While my canvas window shows every move instantly, the MXO output lags fraction of a second behind, I think the delay it’s close to 0.5 sec… (when working with just 2 monitors, the same situation when working with MacBookPro).
Also I don’t like 1 frame delay between canvas and MXO output (it’s confirmed by MATROX).
OK 1 frame off it’s not a huge value but I feel bad looking at picture and concentrating on the lips. It’s not a professional approach.regards

November 30, 2007 at 3:46 am in reply to: Do I really need AJA io in my workflow…Yes 2 graphic cards, sometimes I’m forced to temporary disconnect the second 30inch LCD because of some rendering errors on some plugins but in general this setup works ok.
Sure I’m in touch with Matrox tech support… but I think it’s not easy for them to make me really happy.
Yes, I think AJA io + converter + ACD 23″ will give me unpredictable colors…
In MXO they have quite good calibration preference pane that works…Thanks Shane for pointing out the possible color accuracy issues…

November 16, 2007 at 1:50 am in reply to: Panasonic AG-HSC1UP AVCHD files not recognizedNo, you can copy/transcode AVC HD from Pana camera directly from card, or camera.
But the main problem is with buggy behavior of capture and transfer(?) window.
I need to try 3-6-8 times dragging the folder AVCHD from camera or reader into that window and have a luck to see the files… The problem is still on the FCP 6.0.2.regards
