Hmm, not needed to do IMX D-10 specifically before. Just XDCAM EX.
Sounds like you’ve not set the codec settings correctly on export. If it allows, set it to CBR rather than VBR. Failing that, the only other alternative is to buy the plug-in from mxf4mac.com.

    Hi Volo,
    Try this link.
    https://www.sony.co.uk/biz/content/id/1166605189229

Not used it yet to make mxf files, but I’m told it’s possible. My client changed their mind and would accept ProResHQ Quicktimes. 🙂

Thanks, but it still needs me to sign up with a US address.
Managed to find it here though if anyone else needs it.

Any idea how to get hold of this sony application? The website won’t let me register as it only accepts US postal addresses and I’m in the UK!!

    Kona is set to :
    Primary 1080i25
    Secondary 625i 25 (and analogue)

    FCP 6.06 HDV1080i50 rendered on a DVCproHD 50i timeline
and a different project XDCAM EX 1080p25 rendered to ProResHQ 1080p 25

both projects play fine to the desktop.
    RT is set to safe.

Strangely. I just booted up this afternoon and all seems fine. External monitor video plays smoothly and in sync. All with the same settings.

    Thanks Shane,
That’s what I thought it would be. No the sequence isn’t 23.98 (at least I hope not) The work I normally do for them is at 23.98 and I bet no-one’s thought to change the SPG setting.
If they’d have asked me before, I’d have told them to keep at 23.98 and added the pulldown for output, but they didn’t.

Wow. That sounds a bit more realistic. Will an older Dual Core Mac pro do? Or does it need to be a Quad?
Are there any UK dealers, or will I have to purchase direct from the US?

    Thanks Bob,
I am only an editor (not one of the 4), but a friend of the guy that’s started the company up. He always claims to be lacking in funds, and people there come and go, so I don’t think their earning anything like the money I am as a freelancer. While I know a little about networking and have seen different systems running at various facilities, like Avid Unity, MetaSAN and LANshare. The details of their setup is a bit of a mystery. I have to say the G5 Xserve is mine, I’m just not using it at the moment.

What would you recommend I do? He’s had various quotes for systems from many people ranging from £20,000 – £30,000. He baulked at the price.

I just thought I’d mention how I’m doing this now.
As mentioned above, insert a pull-down and down-convert with the deck and remove the pulldown with the Kona Card. However, I am now capturing with BITC. Because the deck outputs a completely new timecode at 29.97. The BITC shows ORG timecode (23.98). So I then Modify the TC in FCP to what the tc on the screen is showing me. All OK so-far.
Though I’m never sure about drop, non-drop. In the UK we just have fixed rates.
