Activity Forums Apple Final Cut Pro Legacy MXF-D30 files

  • Posted by Wouter Goudswaard on February 11, 2009 at 10:12 am

    Hi there,

Recently the company that broadcasts commercials (Dutchview) wants to receive MXF files. I have search the net for a application that can make these files but I did not find it.

My question: is there a free plugin for apple final cut pro that I can install so I can make MXF files directly from Final cut pro?

I know you can by software but it is expensive

    Thanks!

    greetings

MXF4mac is your best bet. Expensive? Maybe. But if you think about the cost of a deck and tape, it’s cheap. And by D30, you mean D10 IMX 30, correct?

If MXF-D30 does mean MXF D-10 (a.k.a. IMX) 30 Mb/s, then isn’t your best bet to install Sony’s completely free XDCAM Transfer software and use the FCP File > Export > Sony XDCAM menu that appears? You can save your MXF files anywhere you like not just to an XDCAM disc.

Any idea how to get hold of this sony application? The website won’t let me register as it only accepts US postal addresses and I’m in the UK!!

Thanks, but it still needs me to sign up with a US address.
Managed to find it here though if anyone else needs it.

    Hi Andrij

I just got a mail from my boss stating that we need to export to IMX30 D10 MXF, however, when I clicked on your link nothing came up. I am based in South Africa. Does anyone know of a good plug-in or site I can use for free at first? As a trial?

    Hi Volo,
    Try this link.
    https://www.sony.co.uk/biz/content/id/1166605189229

Not used it yet to make mxf files, but I’m told it’s possible. My client changed their mind and would accept ProResHQ Quicktimes. 🙂

    MXF4mac has a trial:

Have a look at the MXf export suite.

Thanks for the help Andrij! I sent in the video and the client said the picture and audio were fine, however, something was still wrong with the format. This is what they said: “There seems to be a format problem though. The file isn’t IMX D-10 compliant, because the bitrate is not constant and thus the VBV buffer size gets too big.”

Any suggestions on how to fix this? I am currently using “Sony XDCAM Transfer Package V2.12.0 + FAM Driver V2.3 “. Do you have any suggestions on different XDCAM transfer programmes? or am I looking for a later version of this one?

MXF4mac has what you are looking for, but it’s not free.
