We also do this regularly with DigiBeta and an AJA io.

We have the same problem with audio problems during capture. It seems to drop a frame of audio every so often. No pattern to the problem, and if we recapture the footage it is fine. If we capture through the Cinewave system it is fine–the problem only occur via firewire. Oh, and this machine is still running FCP HD with Medea hard drives.

I’ve tried everything over the last year to find the problem without any success.

As far as audio sync goes, I’ve only noticed a problem with captures over 30 minutes.

    Anyone else with similar experiences

Try Addenda Electronics. They have a product called “Rosetta Stone”. B&H carries it I think.

Once you use the IO, you’ll never want to go back to the Cinewave. We made the switch 18 months ago. Like Walter’s, our Cinewave (with 2 BOBS) sits gathering dust.

Ours has been running for 1 year now with no failures and no glitches what so ever. Rock solid performance. We are running a G5 dual 2.0 w/ 4 gig ram and 3.5 tb XServe raid along with an AJA I/O to input uncompressed Digi Beta and DVCPro via SDI.

I like it so much we are upgrading our 2nd suite from Medea drives to a new G5 and an XServe. I could save some money, but reliability and performance are hard to put a price on. I want to know my equipment is not impeding the creative process, which is what good editing comes down to.
