Thanks! Ill give it a try on some test clips, But I am beginning to think it was captured at 23.968 instead of at 29.97 as is recomended here:
https://larryjordan.com/articles/capturing-from-a-panasonic-dvx-100-camera-noah-kadner-dec-2004/If it was captured in the “wrong” way I am guessing cinema tools wont be able to save us here, as the capture removed the wrong frames?

Also…when i open a clip in QT this is the limited info i have(see screenshot). Could there be a problem when the client is digitizing in FCP? I hope not, they have digitized a LOT of footage.

Thanks…but that option is greyed out. I cant select it. Even If i choose “assume this frame-rate” and put in 23.976, that option is greyed out.

Just wanted to post a screenshot of the settings I am using on one sequence. This gives me “crappy” playback in the Monitor, and also some shots are very interlaced on my client monitor. The monitor is being fed by a BMD decklink studio card. Maybe I am just used to working in HD-UHD, but it should look better than what I am seeing.

Thanks Shane!
I moved the project over to Premiere as FCP7 is EOL, and I don’t want to get stuck with a project I cant re-open or work on down the road. That said I will take your suggestion to work in SD and then up-convert via hardware when the time comes.

Dave & Shane…Thanks for the input! I am sure this footage was captured via firewire. And the footage is already in a 4×3 format DVCpro. In other words it has already been captured. So I am inclined to do as both of you have suggested, edit in a DV timeline in FCP7.
When it comes time to uprez. Is compressor good enough? I have heard that there will be a big difference in quality between a software vs hardware uprez.
Is there somewhere you can point me to, with specific settings, so I can do a few tests with Compressor? I have tried a few things on my own with marginal results.
In the end, if there is a big difference with the hardware conversion, I think the client will want to go for that. So, Shane, could I PM you for a rough quote? I am assuming the finished edit will be close to 90 minutes.
Can we PM on this forum? If not can u send me a way to contact you?
Mahalo!

Thanks all for the input. I didn’t think of the Db rebuild issue, but of course it makes sense. We are thinking of running SSD’s which would make that rebuild faster…but there is still the re-build to deal with.
Taking a quick look at VidSharx i found this:
“Share your Avid media (MXF) without conflicting databases, corrupted media files or constant scanning of media drives”and this:
“You could have your assistant editor import media at the same time as you continue to edit. For tight deadlines, you could share the work between three, four, or any number of editors.”Looks pretty sweet!

OK, its been a while, I must have overlooked the email i got when you replied. In any case, thanks for your response.
My connection is from a Decklink Studio to a Yamaha MG 10/2
I have TRS ( i am pretty sure mono) from Channel 1 going into the Left Input of a stereo channel on my Mixer, and Channel 2 goes into the Right of the same channel on the mixer.
The Cable is TRS on both ends. I am attaching a pic that shows some of whats going on.
Thanks for any help with this..the distortion is driving me nuts. Its the last element to fix for a smooth running system.

August 10, 2012 at 6:53 pm in reply to: issue with decklinkcard after upgrading to resolve 9beta on linuxWell, All is Good Now. Although I am still running Desktop Video 9.5.3. I am not sure what fixed it, but a lot has happened since the issue was first posted.
I have upgraded to OSX 10.8, and to MC 6.0.3

August 7, 2012 at 4:01 pm in reply to: issue with decklinkcard after upgrading to resolve 9beta on linuxI had a similar issue, and submitted it to BMD.
I use Media Composer and was on Desktop Video 9.5.3. I upgraded to Resolve 9 Lite and could not get any in Avid Media Composer either. I tried the new drive 6.1 and the same thing was happening.
I uninstalled 6.1 and reinstalled 9.5.3 and then I had output in MC again. But if I open Resolve, with either driver, then my output in BOTH fails.
I am on OSX 10.7.4
