I will probably look for the Matrox Box. And I plan on using something like the Firestore. I am waiting to see if anyone will be breaking the 2GB limit. Am I correct in assuming that I can link the “firestore” to my Media drives via firewire and transfer footage? ie: firestore>laptop>media drive.

I already have a 23 Cinema Display. Do I need to connect through the Matrox Box or out of the DVI on the laptop? This is great info. I plan on keepping the RAID setup in the field and in the edit suite the same for now. The reason I use the term “in the field” is that I will be fairly mobile, as I am moving to Hawaii, and need to keep working on a project. We may be moving around quite a bit, thus the laptop. I don’t want to lug the G5 everywhere. Do you guys have a rough price on this setup? If not I will head to B&H for pricing.

    Thanks….more advice is welcome.

Wow…I have been wanting to do that for a long time! That will save a lot of time for me….I can’t believe how excited I get over stuff like this, my wife is right….I really must be a computer geek.

    Thanks

Thanks Nick…That will help. One other question…when I am pasting multiple transitions into the end of a few stacked clips, with your cool technique, is there a way to make them “centered on edit” without doing them all one at a time?

    Hi Todd,

First it helps to have your clips numbered sequentially, so they are in order in the Browser window. Then simply select all of them and drag them into the Right side of the Canvas window and drop them into the “Insert with Transition” drop area. All the clips are automatically put into the timeline, starting at the point where your playhead is, with your default transition.

To set the default transition, right click (if you have a two button mouse), or option/click the desired transition in the Effects tab of the Browser window and select “set default transition”

If your clips aren’t in order in the browser window, again right click in the window and select “view as large icons”, or whatever size is good for your monitor, and still allows you to identify the clip, and rename them with numbers. For instance 001,002,003…etc. Once that is done, change the view choice to “view as list”, and they are all in order!! Cool.

    Hope this helps.

    Andy
