PS. (SHAMELESS SALES WARNING!) FYI-We have several Media100 8.2 P6000 lossless (and non-lossless) with DV cardsets with SDI and BOB’s that we could sell you for (not much) if you want to upgrade the Vincent system…..

    >>Might be interested in some of that myself.

I’m a broke graduate/ex-student looking for a job, currently running Media100 7.5. I fancy upgrading at some point too. However, I find the Tune-up is stupidly priced compared to Media100 Producer v12 which doesn’t cost much more (although admittedly, I’d probably need a new Mac to run it).

I remember a while ago, I wanted Red 2.5 for OS9, and Boris FX wouldn’t sell it to me, because it’s ancient. But they did say if I bought the latest Boris FX RED they’d throw in 2.5 for free, …might be worth asking them if you buy Producer v12, whether they’ll also throw in a v8.2.3 license number for free too….ya’ never know….=P

=) The trouble with Media100 is, it was made so damn good, you don’t *really* need to upgrade. Lol.

But when I get some money, I might. ^_^

Yeah, but I’m not gonna be in a position to afford HDe – and was shocked to see recently how pricey the Convergent Design boxes are too.

Hence looking forwards to a software solution in Producer.

I’m really sad it’s 2007, and we’re talking about waiting for HDV support.

I remember shortly after I bought my 2nd hand Media100i, in late 2004, some friends of mine claimed they were editing in HD with FCP [early 2005], and I saw all they had were Z1s and FCP software, and were using a firewire connection, whilst at the time I was led to believe you needed

Again, Holy Cow’s suggestion probably is the most professional.

But, I had the same problem last month, when trying to digitise VHS into M100.
Instead of running it through my Beta SP first, I ran it into my PD150 DVCAM via composite input in VCR mode, which simulataneously relayed the signal back to Media100 via DV.
The audio went straight from VHS to M100 via analogue composite.
    It synced fine.
Each VHS tape was an hour long.

    Yeah.

All I have to do to stop the auto-open is close my project before quitting Media100. ^_^ But I always forget, so the SHIFT tip has saved me some time too.

Just for the record, I leave “remember last project” or whatever its called ticked in my preferences, because 80% of the time it is actually really useful to start just where I left off.

*optimistically hopes that’s because the clients you’ve had lately have paid handsomely enough for you to afford yourself an early retirement, persuing a life of leisure =D*
