hey that actually sounds like a good idea. maybe use some nice detailed textures like a cathedral or something. good luck.

play around with some dramatic lighting too that will definelty help.

Well my friend, it depends how you are authoring your dvd.
many dvd authoring programs will allow native 24p (or 23.976) so if you are using encore. Absolutely use 23.976 and you don’t have to add the pull-down at all. And yes in this method field rendering will not be necessary.

Okay a little bit of mis-information here but very close.

first off the canon xl2 does not shoot in frame mode it has true progressive scan ccds.
Second off “yes” you do want to interpret all your footage to 23.976 and work at a comp that is 23.976. This is the best option since you want to work and see your full 24 frames per second without the pull-down.

Now once you are satisfied with your work, render out your movie and in the “render settings” change the time sampling to use lower fields first (for NTSC anyway) and I generally use the wwssw cadence to render out.

also if you are using procoder don’t render to dv-avi use a quicktime “photo-jpg” at high quality because it will look a lot better when you encode for dvd.

do you have continuous rasterization on sometimes it does this.

try a duplicate layer with the levels blown out with a bit of a fast blur and change the transfer mode to add. tthis way you don’t get a washed out grey look. but glowy light flash look. ; )

Well one great way to do this is to create an “animation preset”

Select all your effects and keyframes from the clip then open the “effects and presets” window then with all that stuff selected push the make new preset button from the bottom of the window and now you have an animation preset.

select all your layers and place your cti at the start of the animation and drag out your preset.

there is no such thing as 30i. Most likely your referring to 60i where as your footage was shot at 29.97 frames per second interlaced.
Now you’ll need something like Magic bullet is cinelook to do the trick. good results can also be achieved with twixtor.

A PNG Sequence is also uncompressed and can contain alpha.
Good file sizes too.

Looking at a few thousand bucks, find a good artist, hire him and let them do it for ya.
If it’s more complex, 3d, motion tracking etc. $$$$$$.
