That sounds exactly like what happened with my machine. I love the MB Looks filters and had a 50 minute piece where I was using them throughout. I would scrub ten seconds into the timeline and the whole machine would crash or freeze up. The only solution we were able to come up with was to rebuild my machine from scratch to 10.5.6 and update everything to the point right before the 10.5.7. It was not fun.

Having MAJOR issues with 10.5.7. I wouldn’t recommend this update just yet. My Magic Bullet plug-ins won’t work all of the sudden and FCP keeps crashing. To make matters worse, once FCP crashes, I’m actually starting to have issues with other programs that I’ve never had problems with (Photoshop, Word, etc.). Other people in my office seem to be having similar issues.
So if you use FCP on a daily basis and can’t afford to lose any time — hold off.
