RT2X hardware accelerates matrox fx and will allow you to see the capture window while you capture rather than having to use your camera monitor. You can also use an output to monitor your timeline directly. But from what you said I would say that the gtx285 is going to do all you want and that an RT2X isn’t what you really want. After all, you are still going to want a graphics card even with a matrox card.

The RT2X uses hardware compression for video capture which means you must have another RT2X on any other machine that wants to work on the project. I had this problem myself and ended up having to re-capture everything so I could work on the project! I use a gtx265 with lots of RAM – 1.5G – which works very well with CS5 so a 285 will be fine, just get one Ruth as much RAM as you can.

From experience, that matrix card can be a real pain to set up. And, if you want to share your project across other machines they will need the same card … so, make sure you really need it before you buy it. The HTC should be ok for pretty much anything.

To get back to the original it all depends how you have worked in the first place. If you have edited the file and saved it and shut down Soundbooth you can’t get back to the original unless you have saved an original version. For future reference see my tutorial on safe editing in Soundbooth using the asnd file format.

To remove base, apply an eq effect and then lower the low frequency settings.

I think your idea if resizing the video first and then integrating the PSDs sounds a sensible approach.

What you could try is creating a sequence that is 720-405 and dropping the full sized video into that and simply use the motion controls to scale it to the right size rather than exporting it. When scaling down you won’t lose any quality so it shouldn’t cause you any problems. Then, once you have rescaled the video you can add the photoshop documents and export that sequence. Thus only actually exporting once!

The issue is always going to be the FLV export which could well cause you some problems with the narrow lines! It may make some sense to add an effect to the PSD to make the lines stand out more. And, you could try one more trick.

On a new sequence, add two copies of the psd one on top of the other. On the top PSD add something like find edges or some other stylise effect to make the lines stand out and then try a blending mode on the two PSDs to get a really stand out effect (blending modes are under the opacity tab). If the effect is rather too much, use the opticity controls to ‘dial back’ the effect on the top layer until you have something that looks strong enough.

Then, instead of adding the PSDs, add the new sequence with the blended PSDs and then try exporting a short version to see if it works.

Also, you could try exporting to F4V instead of FLV as this is a flash version based on H.264 which may do a better job for you.

Anyway, have a play – sorry if none of this works, but it’s worth a try.

Firstly, put the whole clip in a new sequence and colour correct that and drag that sequence into another new sequence and edit that so ppro treats it like a footage item. That way any colour correction is applied across any future edits.

The sound issue also needs to be dealt with in that master sequence for the same reason. Once edited any future edits that use that sequence will also pick up the audio correction.

Have you seen my recent tutorial about separating elects with mocha 2?

Using this method you can track several items at a time, create shapes, link then to the track and apply to a duplicate of your footage and the just blur that.

Have a look and see if you could use this technique.
