In the import dialogue box, towards the bottom you will see an option to import the files as an ‘image sequence’. If you choose ‘image sequence’ AE will import the stills as a single footage item.

Hi, I can’t answer the first part of the question, but if you have the production premium suite or, you have Premiere Pro you will find you have Adobe On Location. On Location has a set of standard colour bars and the blue bars etc and in the help menu you can find out how to use this to set up your monitor properly.

This is because On Location is used ‘on location’ and there needs to be a standard way to calibrate your laptop monitor to ensure it give a 100% acurate view of what your camera see.

So, if you have On Location you can use that with your system. If not, sorry I’m not too sure about the rest …

I did a tutorial on Free Music in Soundbooth CS4 and CS5 which shows how to find, download and access the music in Soundbooth. To be honest it is a little slow but it is free. The scoring itself is keyframe-able so you can bring the instrument choices they offer in and out in what seems to be step changes. You can also choose from a series of pre-determined lengths for the tracks and do ‘live’ lenght reductions. However, the problem with that is that sometimes the end will not play 100% as you try and match a length. So, if this happens, I would recommend a fade at the end.

Over all it’s ok – not brilliant. There is more music in CS5 than there was in CS4 (don’t remember what there was in CS3) and there are lots of sound effects, but my music producer of choice is still SonicFire Pro as you seem to get a quicker, neater and easier way of working. However, you do have to pay for the albums and, if you really want the full editing choices, the full version.

Look up the tutorial to get you started and see what you think. At some time in the future I hope to put up a tutorial on how to edit etc, but it isn’t rocket science! LOL

Hi Katja, I’m not 100% sure, but the audio may actually be there if say it has been recorded as a mono track rather than a sterio track.

When you create sequences in PP the default is to have STERIO audio tracks. So, if your audio is MONO, when you pull it into PP it looks as if it isn’t showing while in face, further down at the bottom of your sequence (and if your screen is like mine, then off screen) a new mono track is being added.

Pull the video in and then hit the space bar and see if the audio plays. If so, just scroll down the page a little and you will see the mono track at the bottom.

Otherwise, I don’t really know what may be happening!

Hi Mikkell – I just posted this answer for the topic before yours … I think you are both asking the same question, so try this and see if it helps.

Select your clip in the PROJECT PANEL the choose Clip > Audio Options > Breakout To Mono . This will create two new master mono audio clips. – You can then edit each clip independently …

NOTE: When you pull mono audio to your timeline it may seem as if the audio doesn’t show. It does, but it will be at the bottom of the audio if your sequence setting have sterio audio tracks as PP will create a new mono track below the sterio tracks (or 5.1 etc). If you know you are going to work with mono, set your sequence settings from sterio to mono or just reduce the sterio tracks and add some mono tracks .. whatever works for you.

If you want to play with the footage in pp, open pp, choose file, dynamic link, import after effects comp, and then navigate to the AE comp and click ok. That should open the comp in pp for you to play with without having to render out from AE at all. Then, edit in pp and render out from that with the advice above. Hope this helps. Andrew

Not 100% sure, but to render the footage to a proxy you have to render it out and that has to be via a comp.

Once a proxy is rendered, you can delete the comp in the project panel as the proxy is added to the project panel ready for you to use.

The other alternative is to right click and choose set proxy and then choose any file or still you have that is suitable.

OK, I’ve just been over it again to double check. You open AE, choose File>Dynamic Link>Import Premiere Pro Sequence. Then a dialogue box opens.

You then need to navigate to the PP project on your drive, single click the project and then wait while AE figures out what’s in the project and then navigate on the right hand side to the actual sequence you want to pull in to AE. Then you single click on the sequence and click OK.

This should then open a sequence in your project panel which is the same name as the sequence in PP. You then simply pull down the sequence to your empty timeline or new comp icon and it should all be there ready to go …

You can import a PP project into AE, but as you have seen, you get the whole thing which isn’t really what you want.

Another way to get dynamic link to work can be to save your sequence in PP and then drag the sequence icon to the project panel of AE. Just make sure that you save the project … for some reason, saving is important before DL works properly.
