    Mustafa,

Good to hear the first workaround worked somehow.

The Avid wouldn’t work with that kind of recording/setup as well as it also – same as FCP – relies on the sampling rate.
In both cases you can either change the sampling rate or do a fake for that.
My BWF2XML does it for years now when you work with FCP.

“Or export the files as Aiff- that will strip the TC off.”
But that’s what he wants to keep.

“Remember that while there maybe TC on your file, audio in measured in feet and inches or just length of time- there is NO FRAMES in audio.”
There is no TC in BWAV file, there is a time stamp, which can be used to show up as SMPTE time code. Audio is measured in samples per second. With applications like QuickTime an audio frame is a second, with other applications a frame might be a sample.

    Hi Mustafa,

One thing you can try is to create a 24/23.976 project to import the BWAV files. From there you can drag them to 60fps NTSC project. FCP will keep the first timestamp interpretation in memory. The drawback of this workaround is that if the files go offline and you reconnect the timestamp interpretion is wrong.
You could try my BWF2XML which will put the BWAV into a QT-Wrapper including a user defined timecode rate – this way FCP handles the sound like a movie without picture but respects timecode and playrate.

    Hi,

I haven’t tried it as well, same as you I didn’t find any comments/ratings about. But the feature list sounds impressive.
The reason I didn’t try is that I got a running system with a similar but way more expensive component installed (mxf4mac). It works reliable and bullet proved here.

But I would be interested as well how this works.

  • Hi Brandon,

You may have a look at my TitleExchange (https://www.spherico.com/filmtools/TitleExchange/index.html)

It will allow you to convert the STL (in case it’s a Spruce Text STL) directly from 25 to 30 frames.
It also can convert the STL to FCP XML.

    Hope that helps

    Matt,

    I did readXML as well.
Regarding your question it’s not a good idea to create DVD chapter markers for titles – they are limited to 99 and you won’t get more of them into a DVD SP project
What you can do is to take the clipboard content paste into Excel or a better program and replace some columns to create a STL file.

    Just for the records:
“Modify Timecode” only works really for QT movies not for QT compatible movies or files – though FCP will store a record about the changes in the project where you did this changes and it probably will work.
But using QT compatible movies or files with modified TC will show up with blank or different data when used within another project if the project where you modified the data is not open, this also may happen if you “Media Manage” the files or import them into another project which a different setup.
As said this only valid for “QT compatible movies or files” compared to “QT movies” – so don’t worry too much, but keep it in mind.

You can also use my TitleExchange Demo (for 30 days and a limit of 50 titles a time).
To use the demo for this job, distribute your titles in blocks of 50 to different tracks, export to XML and then change the blocks one by one to the “master title” standard.
    Get the demo here:
