I have completed a project in FCPX using Apple Motion Generators & Transitions. Now i have to rename the Apple Motion Template Folder. But when i use a different name, its showing missing Generator in other machines. So i have to re-link it after renaming the folder. Is there a way to do that?
The Final Cut Project Directory seems too huge for me. Apart from the FCP file, what are the other files/folders we should copy? I have to put it in one DVD (FCP + Apple Motion Generator + Transitions).If the client copy the files to the same location of any other Mac system with FCPX, it should work..Pls help

I don’t want to be offending or arrogant, but you don’t understand the principles.
Every template is stored on it’s very own file path inside the FCPX project.If do you change anything within the Finder (or other) FCPX still tries to locate that file(s) on the FCPX internally stored path – which obviously is not possible because of the change. So you get some things offline.
If you try to transfer a project (plus event) to another machine or/and user you have to transfer the template path structure as well to the other machine and user. This way FCPX will find the original path.
So the points are:
Never Ever Rename Some Template once you used it.
Send your client a copy of your “Motion Templates” with instructions how and where to install.

Never use XML for something like that you’re planning.
You will be in trouble.Bill’s way is better route to go.
But don’t start editing and applying effects on the one or other machine until you’re sure those ones are installed on all machines using the same installation path.Andreas

As I said before – your approach to create a Motion template and to enter the clip name manually is the only way to go, except your clip name is the same as the file name.
If you would know a bit about XML it would be easy to replace the “… node with the file name, but obviously you want to do something else, which only exists in the FCP project and in your mind.The exchange ways FCPX offers more or or less contain no metadata.
10.0.3 gave us a little more for C(olor)C(orrection)apps – for other CC (caption) apps nothing as text. FCPXML is still ridiculous compared to earlier versions of FCP XMEML and I know several people at Apple being aware of that.That doesn’t mean FCPXML is garbage, it’s just limited. Try to read and understand the FCPX XML documentation same as you read the FCPX manual and prepare for the future.
Go to w3schools.com to learn about global XML handling, reading, creation etc. Once done you will understand a bit better what options you have with FCPXML.Sorry to be not that helpful.

Totally true and a good approach.But the main thing is to understand the structure of FCPX and how it works – and how tapeless does work or should work, with trackless it is the same, not forget secondary storylines, clip connections which include gaps connections and so on.
It’s not a good idea to create a Motion Template for each clip, which is doable and will work, but for what price (meaning effort, storage space and cluttered interface in FCPX)?You should wait for a usable XML of FCPX and in the meantime learn XML and the other stuff.

Hi,
The procedure has been around since a few days after 10.0 release.
It’s a simple title effect. Open Motion (which is recommend to buy if you don’t own it), create a new title and delete the text box. Publish and you’re done.– Andreas

The missing “Open in Editor” feature (which has do with Motion or other roundtrips and PS Layers as well) is a known bug/lack by Apple.
It hopefully will be implemented soon.Andreas

It’s possible.
But there are things which might not be welcome.If you update/overwrite a template all clips where the elder version was used will be affected and changed.
So you have add to your comments/dialogs in this case that a “work in progress template” can modify a lot of elder projects.But I’ll think about it.
