as far as i know the reframing via aaf or xml will not translate into resolve.

but if you send it back via aaf or xml from resolve to your editing app, the editing
app will remember those settings for you and reapply them.

hmmm… due to the fact that the blacks are clipping sooner than the highlights (combined with some shots that have small white random dots) i would guess that it was shot on film and afterwards a telecine was done (no scan, so the underexposed stuff is lacking black detail).

but it could also be a good fake. somehow a dirty but cool style…

by heart i would say about 8mb per frame (hd). but if you have davinci, just render in dpx with whatever specs your project has and know it for sure…

  • but on the other hand:
i can renember that it was sometimes a little bit confusiong in apple color
having some corrections inside and others outside in one secondary.

the node way resolve handles this seems for me far more clearly laid out.
every node is a correction and every correction i can easily turn on/off.

if it were both corrections in one node, this wouldn’t be possible…

hmm… i am in proresland, but if hdd-space isnt the problem (and speed, although you could easily
render proxy files for realtime performance) take the dpx-route. that way you are 100% safe
    (because uncompressed)!
alternatively you could try aviddnxhd 175/220 (the proreshq pendant)! should also do the trick.

  • well, the hsl key tool needs a better blur function. it has been discussed here already and
i guess bm does know this and are working on it.

it is not possible insidse a node.

but you could build layers of the same take in the conform room. then make
versions (i believe you can make versions with different zooms). then add
in the color room your masks and the alpha output! (right click in the node view – add alpha
    output or similar)
