I saw Matt Geller’s presentation in Chicago and was truly impressed. So, I bought it immediately when it became available.. As with all new software there were certain things I had a hard time understanding. But, it feels very easy to use, once you start to understand the structure of the software.

What really helped was when I opened up the demo videos in Youtube, slowed them down to ½ speed and turned off the audio. The clicking, explanations are just too fast. I went through them and followed through by watching Matt Geller’s presentation and then did it again and again. Videos with spoken explanations would be great and greatly reduce the time to learn KeyFlow Pro.

To understood the difference between a Library and a Project is important.
My explanation is that the Library is more or less like a Library/Event-combo in FCP X. It’s where you keep the media from a number of SD cards from a vacation trip, a filming of a concert or wedding. A word used instead of Library by Matt is Catalogue. A Project is a filter or a section of that Catalogue. You need a Project to import media, so that will be your first chapter in a Library (catalogue).

KeyFlow Pro seems to be really flexible. So you can create your own way of organizing your media..

Also, eager to hear from others

More to come as I get going

Sometimes, I think back, and I wonder about my purchases. My worst purchases were my pizza box, G3, my G4 and the cube. But, they all had a purpose which I fully exploited. My best purchases were my first air and my first imac.

The new iMac 5K I bought back in December is by far my best machine. It’s rock solid. But, did I enjoy my older machines, sure did! Especially the cube.

In the Viewer, Control-click anywhere in the image and choose an option from the shortcut menu:

Ease In and Out: Applies the easing effect to the beginning and the end of the animation.

Ease In: Limits the easing effect to the end of the animation.

Ease Out: Limits the easing effect to the beginning of the animation.

    Linear: Removes all easing effects.

    No, there is no noise.

Well, besides me blasting old Swedish punk like Ebba Grön.

    Which platform would that be?

Interested in what you suggest suggest by switching platform? As I’m looking for advanced video data flow solutions. Moving 10’s TB of data from multiple editors between continents to and from mainly FCP X users but also VFX.

My 5K IMac handles everything I throw at it. 6-8 K photo images open in a snap. 4K plays back beautifully and I edit with 1080P, UHD and 4K H.265 footage.

I have a fully loaded 5K iMac from back in December.

If you want to go full bore, check out my friends at FCPWorks and their system solutions.

The IMac 5K is a very good computer and the screen is gorgeous.

Facebook is the only thing that gives me an occasional spinning beach ball.

    Good luck

  • Hi,

I know there are solutions out there as I worked on a project which used proxy media as the core how we transferred the media and edits. As long as you have the media at both locations, you should probably be looking at using XML. Take a look at the many videos FCPWorks.com/nab2015 published after their sessions during NAB this year.

  • They have a trial, so test it out. Just go through their website training and you are good to go. Very easy to use.

  • I’m using Final Cut Library Manager by arcticwhiteness.com. A sweet media management tool with plenty of features.

  • Why are you all so aggressively negative towards FCP X.?
Are you afraid it will take your work away?

FCP X works and it is fast!

Someone said that it must measurable. Well, I would say FCP X is at least 60 % faster than Avid or Premiere.
But, it’s not the speed we should be measuring it’s the art. I’m slow at art. I change my mind a lot.

If you are fast at art, use your thing.

Personally I’m diving into Nuke Studio right now.

    Ciao!
