No, I’m at the AE end of the stick

For a single or independent editor, even Avid officials admit (though reluctantly) that Avid MC is not the best solution as it is targeted to the expert editor working in a medium to large studio.
Avid offers Liquid for editors working by themselves at home. I would go with FCP if I were you. It can do anything you want it to do and has room to grow as it is making inroads in the pro community.
You could also buy an AJA board later on if you can afford it to get more juice out of your Mac. Avid will have such a board available at June but the pricing is not clear at this time.

I am working with 3dmax renders, previously composited for an animation series. Now, instead of animation, I get fresh renders of single larger frames for printing of a book. So instead of doing the whole thing over in Photoshop I enlarge everything with AE and export to Photoshop for some final touches. But of course in Photoshop I can’t change the color of individual objects in case there’s a problem, so the whole process is cumbersome and time consuming

Sure, it can be imported. But can I work with my regular AE comps in CMYK space?

Not sure that you can actually achieve this with AE. You might think of trying a 3d package such as Maya.

Also, why do the in and out points change when I move. I also am unable to scrub and change in and out points 🙁

Should it also work in the timeline? I and O seem to only determine the workspace rather than make a selection

Problem is how can I go clip by clip and view them? Going back and forth between the trimmer and project media windows can be exahusting

I do. I wonder what’s fixed. There is still memory leakage that’s fixed only by doing a restart 🙁
