  • I’m not sure I’m following your question, but here it goes. AE 3D and Invigorator 3D don’t mesh well because all the moves of the Invig object have to be done in Invig. Once that object is interacting in the AE comp it’s 2D. Best thing to do is place your pictures on the text surface in Invig using the MAterial Set-up window and the Materials dialog. Hope this helps, I use Invig. sometimes, but I reall just want to get a real 3D app like Cinema 4D.

A few things I would do (and have done for microscope shots). First is to use a black solid and mask a circle to reveal the image (cheesy, but it sells the shot). Next, take the image and rotate it in Z space slightly. Then use an A.E. camera and animate the focus so it actually does a rack focus. At the same time have a slight directional blur follow the rack, and slightly adjust the exposure. Use Au Naturel for both the blur and exposure, it’s exposure adjustment is worth the $99 by it self. As you can probably see, I’m a big fan of lots of little tweaks and slight adjustments. “Reality” is all about the minute, we might as be the same.

Hold the shift key while you drag the layer/set and it will place it in the same place in the destination document. If I remember correctly, if the destination is another size, the new layer(s) will be centered.

Terry I almost posted the same question yesterday. For me it turned out that when our sever crashed I lost some of my prefs (our user account live on the server). Turned out my disk cache was no longer turned out and my overflow volumes not set (this was probably a non-issue as my project drive is a 500gb RAID). Once I turned the Disk Cache back on, it rendered fine.

    Hope this helps.

Thanks Steve, I’ll try that out. When our network is finally fixed and stable I’ll use my G4 to do my rendering, but this will help a lot in the mean time. Thanks again for you time.
