I replied back too soon: Final Cut Pro 7 is still asking about those pesky plug-ins. I looked in Main Library>Application Support>Final Cut Pro (there is no Final Cut Pro System Support folder) and nothing there. No plug-ins folder any where either. Any ideas?

I just want to remove the plug-in I never used anyway! Doh!

After a little configuring, I was able use Panasonic’s P2 Content Mngt System for the Mac and determined the following–
I can:
Delete individual clips from an existing archive. (I had to be viewing clips in the list mode in order to do so. The thumbnail mode would not let me.)
Copy individual clips to a new CONTENTS folder

However, I can’t:
Move clips
When copying, it places all new clips into a new CONTENTS folder. But I can’t create a folder to place that CONTENTS folder into from within the P2 CMS software.
(Either I create a folder to copy the CONTENTS folder into or I make a new folder afterwards and drag the new CONTENT folder into it.)

Not sure why I can’t move clips. It would be nice to be able to move related clips from different shoots or subjects together. But being able to Delete is a major win!

Yes, this does appear to be the case– I ran to the same Keynote presentation on a newer MacPro laptop (June 2010) and saw the tearing issue only one time and that was on a very slow transition. When I went into the settings and sped up the transition, the tear or ripple was gone. The other transitions played fine.

So it does look like a newer computer (with a newer graphics card) addresses the problem. Thanks to all that responded! Your suggestions were very much appreciated!

Yes, I have considered that. It is a relatively “old” MacPro laptop. I have to wait and install Keynote on our other newer MacPro, once it gets back from being out on an assignment with a producer.

Yes, I tried the 75Hz and the creases seemed to appear more frequently and pronounced.

If I play the presentation with NO moving transitions (that is, the slide does not move across the screen, like a simple push-off-the-screen transition) I see no creases. However, if I look really really close at the video image as it plays on the projection screen, I can see a crease slowly rolling through the video at certain places. But not always. And never in the same part of the video, just randomly. And when the slide is just being static slide, sitting on the screen, no problems.

I no longer have the issue. However, I think I tracked it down to the Matrox MXO– I’m thinking the device had to be up and running before I fired up Final Cut. (We have our MXO and secondary monitor on a separate power switch as there are times when we aren’t editing on the machine so we don’t need two monitors going.)

If I didn’t have the MXO already on, the red boxes occurred. And if I fired up the MXO after I had seen the problem, it didn’t care, I still got the red boxes.

Do you have an MXO in your mix? Maybe try that and see.

I am in a similar situation than Michael except my format is DVCPro 50. I exported my sequence from FCP 7 as DVCPro 50 and used it in AE (CS4) and upon rendering back out a DVCPro 50 codec, the results came out soft and bleached out in FCP. So I rendered the same project out as Apple ProRes 4444 and while it looked a bit better, it still was soft. To further my tests, I exported the sequence out as ProRes 4444 and used that in my AE timeline and rendered it out as ProRes 4444 but it too came out soft and bleached out in Final Cut.

Any suggestions?

BTW, I recently did a project where I was working with DVCPro HD 720p in AE and used ProRes 4444 as my codec and those results came out looking stellar.

Sorry for the stupidity.

We discovered the camera operator could have set the Channel 3 and 4 switches to W/L and not recorded any audio on those channels. The reason why Channel 3 sounded more robust is because his Channel 3 was set to Auto.

Re: your suggestion to off-load after each shoot. Let’s say I shoot one day, off-load to the portable drive, re-format the P2 card and shoot the next day on the same P2 card, then go about off-loading. Will I be able to off-load to the same portable drive without compromising my previous day’s Content?
