thank you guys for your responses…

Ive posted the wrong video unfortunately please have a look at this

    https://vimeo.com/23789947

You can clearly see that the subjects face are lit, there is some kind of an on board light that does not blind them but is enough to light up the shot in an interesting way. You can see the amount of purple used in this video, is it just putting up the hue in the CC to be purple, or is it a plugin.. Watching this video, what do you think the shutter or aperture is set at. We are in Australia so the standard is PAL 25fps and hence shutter at 50. But you can see that there is hardly no Depth of field, on the “people shots” but there is on the close up shots ( of dj, bar, shot glasses etc ) but with the change of aperture the video is still consistently lit. don’t you think ?

yes now i know that it was up to high, but i had no choice the place was very lightly lit.. in that video they a using an on board light but it aint blinding them and i think there using a 5d not a 7d not sure if there would be a difference in the way they handle light.
but any suggestions on good onboard lighting for such things, also how what are some standard guidelines to follow in terms of aperture and shutter… all there videos have that puple olour tone so i dont think its the venues lighting, it must be a plugin used in post.

    THanks guys for your info…

But although the transition in stand by me is from shot to shot it does seem easier to dissolve into each other as the background is the same..

But you must of seen in films people or objects dissolving out of a SINGLE shot, like my example of time lapsing and people being dissolved of a bus – there must be a way of doing this maybe it can be done in avid and final cut pro but not not in premiere ??

    Any ideas ??

    THanks Eddie,

But what i have found bit confusing is, i opened up a 29.97 fps project and for some reason the files still conform and index everytime they are imported into the new project..

Could it be the way the footage was intially captured, because regardless of it being a 25 or 29.97 project it still indexes and conforms ??

By the way it was captured using firewire and the software used was ASPECT HD’s HDlink. This captured it in .m2t format. If this is not a good way to capture what do you recommend to capture with ? What are the best capture softwares for PC or is it just wise to use the in built capture software of premiere pro ??

    Hello Daniel,

Thank so much for your help, but i have one more little problem
(there will probably be more to come)

In this instance i will be using SONICS Cinevision to encode. Say in premiere i have finished my project and want to encode, how do i get the final cut from PREMIERE to my encoder SONIC CINEVISION (or)EPISODE ?

Obviously you cant export it as an mpeg than re-import it back into your encoder as you will be losing alot of quality. There must be another way ?

    THanks

    Hello Daniel,

Im using a PC but will be transferring to MAC on future projects. So obviously I need a top end transcoder and a top end DVD authoring software to ensure high quality output.

I though some encoders would come with dvd authoring software, but anyhows if i was to encode using ‘episode’ which DVD authoring software do you suggest for both PC and MAC.. Can you use NERO ?

    THanks

The one you have recommended “telestreams EPISODE PRO” is at $995 but it seems to be a very high end product that will deliver high quality results, do you agree, is it something you have used?

As we are prepared to pay whatever it takes to have the final product looking as proffesional it can be, what do you suggest i try in terms of DVD authoring and Blue Ray Authoring as it seems i will make copies of both?

Also if the final product isto be viewed on cinema then you would hand in your blu ray copy to the cinema and they would play on the big screen through a digital projector is that correct ?

    Thanks

Thank You Daniel for your response, much appreciated.

I will have an in depth look at those applications you have mentioned. Just a quick one, what if i was to compress the film to Blue Ray then would the output look close to the original ? Is this not like HD on DVD ?

I need something which is going to provide the best possible output in terms of picture and sound quality, i was reading on the internet that H264 compressor was the best going around is this not true ?

    THanks
