Compressing your rough cut
I’m a little confused about compression and the final output of your work.
I have a Sony Z1 HD camera which has just shot a documentary. The lenght of the doco will be about 45-60min and It was shot in 1080/50i at 25 frames p/s.
I have captured the footage in its original form with HDlink/cineform in mt2 format. The rough cut has been finalised using adobe premiere cs3 on windows platform. The doco has been funded and hence it needs to look as proffesional as possible. The final output of the film will be transferred to DVD for distribution and have a screening at a smallish cinema.
Now my problem is what compressor or file format am i to use for my final product. I have tried all the default formats ( MOV, AVI, MPEG ) with all the default compressors in adobe premiere but the quality seems to be poor for a proffesional documentary.
Is it meant to be exported as normal then put through a 3rd party compressor like Sorensen ? Or is there an industry standard one for doco’s and films ? Is it meant to be compressed at all ? I have looked on the web but they all the info is on web banners and smaller clips.
ANY HELP WOULD BE MUCH APPRECIATED ??
thanks in advance
