I’m not familiar with Artbeats stuff but I do have and use Digital Juice and Digital Hotcakes. Vegas works different from Premiere in regards to alpha and the post above mentioned how to change that.

Have you tried to open the backup project file? When you save project files, Vegas also creates a .veg.bak file.

First I’d try to open Vegas and open another veg file to see if that opens. If it does with no problem, then close it and try to open that bsk file. If it does open, you can do a save-as to recreate the file.

If you can’t open any veg file you may have to re-install Vegas.

I’ve used Moyea Flash Video MX Pro ever since it came out. I know the developers. They’re in China believe it or not. The program works just great. I’d be lost without it for many uses.

I highly recomment it.

Also for someone sitting next to you, I have your ideal solution. There’s 3 sets of DVD tutorials for Vegas that I know of. First one is Class on Demand. But the better of the three and with much more detail (like having someone next to you) is either the set from Gary Kleiner or Vasst’s set. I have Gary’s complete set plus a few single DVD’s from Vasst. Gary’s set is priced right and I like his style of training. Plus it you have a laptop you can set next to you you can follow along with the instructions and do it as they show it.

Nope. Vegas does like MP3 and OGG and a hundred of others 😉 Open Vegas (I’m using 8 pro) and go to import-media and look under the file types. They’re all there.

For the MIDI’s I use, I have a Midi/MP3 converter program that does a great job and it was quite cheap, not free. Just Google “MIDI to MP3 converter” or “MIDI to OGG converter” and you’ll get a bunch of choices to check out.

Building a bit on what Mike says above, I do a lot of text boxes on my technical videos. When previewing it’s not sharp or smooth. So what I do is to detach the preview window, enlarge it a bit and set the preview settings a Best-Full. That seems to give me a smooth preview when previewing effects added to the video.

It’s the same on my external TV monitor. It’s a jumpy fuzzy preview unless I have the Vegas preview window set to the best-full setting.

This is for SD though so I can’t comment about HD as I wdon’t work with HD yet.

I also have Vegs 8 pro and every one from Vegas 3 up except for 6. Of course the only versions still installed are 7 and 8. I also use AVG but not the free version. I have a 3 workstation pak of their newer internet security package, so it’s on all 3 of my computers.

When I first started using AVG years ago I used the free version like you’re using. Never once did AVG affect any of my software including Vegas and even while rendering. It works quietly in the background.

So the problem must have been with your installation of Vegas and as you said you re-installed Vegas and it’s okay now.

I’ve had a problem such as yours once but it corrected itself after tryng the save again. Ha! How about this one. Vegas swapped clips on me in a video I was working on. Yup! Crazy! Explainable? Not really. I was lucky it was the first clip and all I had to do was import the correct clip and re-insert it.

What happened was I finished a technical video, saved it and printed it to a DVCAM tape. Then I closed Vegas and moved all the files to me external storage drive to make room on my capture drive for another project. This morning I opened that previous project. Of course Vegas couldn’t find the files so I pointed it to the new drive and directory. File opened and the very first clip had been swapped with something else. Talk about the heart skipping a beat!!!

So wierd things happen. Thanks for sharing yours.
