    Hi

I’m having troubles viewing videos from the timeline on the Preview window, it seems to skip and not play right, but when i use another Sony program such as Cinescore i have not problem it plays prefectly.
I have 1GB of RAM and 2048 of Virtual Memory. i honestly cant see the problem. Also when i render it or Shift+B it it plays fine.

Can anyone help me fix this problem?

    Thanks,
    Taylor.

Assuming you’re trying to play ordinary video, set your Preview window to Preview/Auto.
If it’s HDV or (even worse) AVCHD, you may need to drop this down even more.
Also, it depends a lot on what kind of CPU you have.
My quad core will play a single stream of HDV in Best/Full easily.
Add an effect or two to it though and the rate does drop.
Sample AVCD files I’ve downloaded have to played at Preview/Auto or lower to get full frame rate playback.

Building a bit on what Mike says above, I do a lot of text boxes on my technical videos. When previewing it’s not sharp or smooth. So what I do is to detach the preview window, enlarge it a bit and set the preview settings a Best-Full. That seems to give me a smooth preview when previewing effects added to the video.

It’s the same on my external TV monitor. It’s a jumpy fuzzy preview unless I have the Vegas preview window set to the best-full setting.

This is for SD though so I can’t comment about HD as I wdon’t work with HD yet.

Deeply sorry to contact as this thread had been dead for a while.

I have tried the things you’ve suggested but its the same, I have recently reformatted, and when I reinstalled Vegas thinking it maybe the way its configured, no the same things happening. What I didnt add to my post above is I have a AMD Athlon 64 x2 Dual Core 4000+ 2.11 GHz and a ATI X700.

My mate have Sony Vegas too and they can play in Best/Auto he has a Intel Centrino Core Duo.

Could it be they way its configured?

    Thanks.
