Also, what antivirus software are you using and do you have a firewall? I had Kerio Firewall at one time and it really messed with my Vegas. Now I use AVG’s Internet security suite and never had a problem with AVG, even since AVG’s free days.

What kind of MEG is it? Meaning where did it come from? You may not have the particular codec to open that file.

In the first place your friend is not going to burn a VCD using a WMV file. A complaint VCD requires a specific kind of MPEG-1.He may have put a short WMV on a CD but I don’t think it’s going to play in any set top player. My thought is he created a data CD and just copied the file over.
He would have had to render out his original video as MPEG-1 VCD to burn an actual VCD. This can all be done right in Vegas start to finish.
That is if I understand what you’re saying correctly.

When you created your Flash video (FLV) in Moya (or most other Flash programs they should automatically create the SWF wrapper (player) for you. You need to make sure both are in the same directory.
Some software will also create the HTML code for you also. I think that Moyea does but haven’t used my copy in quite a while.

Are you refering to rendering a Vegas Project as a MOV, or were you wanting to export your VEG (project) file which you really can’t do AFAIK.

Okay thanks much. Yes, I have a Vegas Temp folder I put all my rendered files in until I’m actually finished with them. Then on another HD (my 3rd one) I have the DAR folder created, all empty and ready to go.
That’s basic stuff. I am just not all that familiar with the in’s and out’s and nitty-gritty of DVDA 😉

I never needed any breakout boxes with Vegas like you do with some of the others. The only extra item I have is an old Canopus ADVC100 (now Grass Valley ADVC110) that I use to go out to my external NTSC monitor, or when capturing analog tapes.
That’s why I threw Premiere 6 in the garbage (eBay) years ago because it came with that old Pinnacle (ugh!) breakout box. Or was it the other way around. 😉 An old Pinnacle DV500 that came with Premiere. I moved to Vegas 3 and never looked back.
Others here may use a breakout but you’ll have to hear from them about it.
Also I’m hearing that the eSata is somewhat faster than even the firewire 400 and that’s what I’m switching over to. But you’ll still need the firewire for Vegas to capture AFAIK.

When you set your buttons. You have to set the nagavation and end actions. By default it returns to the menu on seperate videos.

AVI is a wrapper for many different kinds of video. If they were DV-AVI whyich I doubt since you downloaded them off the internet because standard DV-AVI is 13gb per hour.
Where did you download them from. Maybe we can help you further. They may have been encoded with a codec that Vegas doesn’t support or one that you don’t have on your computer.
Can you just double click one of them and see if it will play in the Windows Media Player?
