I just re-read your first thread on this subject from July 1st. Something to remember. Always create a restore point before instaling something, (anything) so you’ll have a good place to go back to if the install either messes with Vegas or if something goes wrong with the install.
You can then go back to that restore point and get rid of everything that was changed after you created the restore point.
So, as Steve and I both suggested, re-format your HD and start over with the recovery disk.

Ha! I just bought a MacBook Pro to replace my old 9lb Toshiba Laptop. Mac’s wonderful now and with BootCamp I’ll install XP and all my Sony Vegas stuff.
So back to your problem. You use Ulead? ugh! (personal opinion). Uninstalling any graphic or video sofware shouldn’t delete your files if you stored them outside of program’s folder. I never file anything within any program’s folder. And lately I’ve been using the Documents folder for everything which I never used to do. All my VEG files are in a Sony VEG folder and vids are on another HD.
You’re at the point now just to get the recovery disk out and run it, or start uninstalling everything until you see if Vegas Opens. Since the last stuff you installed was from Corel, Take it all out. Try Vegas and go on from there.
Do you have a registry cleaner program for your Vista? Something may be lurkig in the registry. Usually a registry cleaner will find old ‘crap’ and clean it out. I use PC Tools Registry Mechanic and on another computer I have Amust registry cleaner.

Uh, what verson of Vegas are you using? 8b? If it’s not the latest version do an upgrade and that just may solve the problem forcing Vegas to open. Another thought;-)

It’s called Picture-n-Picture or PIP. Video on bottom track. Overlay photo/video above it. Use either track motion (preferably) or Pan/Crop to sice and position the small photo. Wala!Allen

Very easy in Vegas. You can do it manually using Track Motion and/or Pan-Crop, or easier yet you can do it automatically with 2 of the most famous plug-ins. Especially if you have a lot of photos to do.
Excalibur and Ultimate S (plugins) have the ability to automatically do photo slide shows and montages as well and a lot easier if you have a bunch of stills you want to animate. Plus you have all kinds of control over how the plug-in pans and zooms. I have both plug-in’s and wouldn’t be without them because they have hundreds of little scripts that I use every day. You can check them out at the links below. They’re not expensive.
Both plug-in’s will do in seconds what it normally takes hours to do! 😉
Just make sure your photos are high quality PNG (Vegas Loves PNG files) and set the sizes to 1440 x 960 to have enough room to put the motion in. Also for each photo you’ll want to right click and click ‘switches’ and set the ‘reduce-internet-flicker’ This will reduce the flickering when your video is rendered. IF I remember correctly both Excalibur and Ultimate-S will check the reduce-interlace-flicker on all of them for you also.
If your photos are coming from a digital still camera don’t use them full size. It’ll be too much for Vegas and you’ll have problems. If you use the normal 720 x 480- setings you won’t have enough room to pan the photo. Use the settings I mentioned above. Also you’ll have to tick the ‘match output ratio’ in the PC or TM box especially on vertical photos.

Hang in there, we’ll get your vegas running yet! Hopefully ;-)))Anyway sorry but I don’t know anything about Vista, however in reference to the Corel stuff, I’m sure in your control panel – add/remove programs, there’s got to be a reference to Corel and the Codec.
You do have a control panel and an add/remove programs folder don’t you? No I’m not being funny, I just don’t know Vista.
As a last resort, you might consider using your recovery disk and start all over, installing Vegas first and staying away from Corel until you know for sure it won’t conflict with Vegas.

The Norton story as I understand and remember it goes like this. Back in DOS 3.2 and above days. Maybe earlier, Norton utilities was the greatest thing going since the desktop computer. We all relied on his various utilities and they were great.
Then he sold it to Symantec and that’s when it started going downhill. Symantec started expanding it and for some reason it really became a system hog. I used it right up to the end of W98SE. I found my system getting slower and slower and everyone in the know, wound up having to re-format their HD’s every year or so just to get all the crap out. I don’t know the why’s and wherefor’s but I got tired of it along with everyone else I knew or came in contact with.
I found out about Nod32 from ESET, a little known foreign company and went with them and for years they were by far the very best. However due to some personal personal issues with ESET which I won’t go into (it’s still a very good antivirus) I started looking around and finally settled on AVG (then a popular free antivirus). Stayed with them for a long time but then was looking for a good software firewall to replace MS’s first efforts ar a firewall. Couldn’t find one that didn’t conflict with one thing or another and when AVG came out with their Internet security suite, I bought a 3 pack license for all my computers and never look back.
Great thing about AVG is I can do anything, even render video with AVG in the background it it never messed up my computer or projects. I never have to disable it, even when installing new programs. It just doesn’t conflict.
I got some personal thoughts about Symantec but I can’t back them up with facts so I won’t share them. Surfice it to say, I’d choose another AntiVirus software.
It may just be part or all of Cindy’s problem.

Sorry but you do have a problem and using Norton you have an even bigger problem. I personally think you’re gong to have to uninstall Norton completely. Usually this may mean a manual uninstall because Norton is not only a system hog but it puts gargage everywhere on your machine. but try the uninstaller first.My suggestion? Uninstall Norton. Do you have a registry cleaner? Use it. I use PC tools Registry Mechanic. Then bring up my computer, right click on your C drive, click properties and click disk cleanup. Let it do it’s thing. Make sure you click okay to delete the files. Then when it’s done restart your computer. Then my computer – right click on C drive again. On the upper tabs you’ll see Tools. Click that and then defrag. That is unless you use a 3rd party defragger. I use Perfect Disk. Now all this assumes you don’t use Vista. If you use Vista someone elst will have to help you because I don’t know Vista. It may be the same as I’m suggesting here. If this is the first time you’re defragging, be prepared for an all night affair. Just walk away and go watch TV. ha ha It may take a long time.
Now after all that if you feel you still want an anti virus right away, Google AVG Free Antivirus and get the freebie for now. Then engage your windows firewall for now. Then re-install Vegas.
I’m praying you’re not going to have to re-format your hard drive but if this doesn’t help, hmmmmm I don’t know.

AFAIK You’ll need a video card with 2 monitor outputs to get dual monitors. Then I have the Canopus ADVC100 box to run my NTSC monitor.
I’m also researching that now for myself.

No. Rendering for QT should include the audio, same as WMV or AVI.
