July 5, 2016 at 5:11 am in reply to: Adobe Dynamic Link Not Working!

I had a similar issue. My dynamic link was transfering the video from premiere into the after effects timeline, but after I upgraded to cc2015 for both Pp and AE, they link would not get recognized.

Easy fix: I opened both Pp & AE CC 2015, then added a dummy layer into AE, like a solid green color. Saved the AE file, switched over to Pp and VOILA! It seems that you need to save so that this “REFRESHES” the link.

All my dynamic linked comps are now showing up!

Yes, Alex. It seems to be perpetually stuck on “rename everything” mode whenever I want to rename ONE asset. This is perfect if I want to go down a long list of assets and rename one after the other. That’s probably why Adobe Prelude was created, so that logging and ingesting assets (video, audio, graphics, stills, etc) is it’s own task, and not mixed in with editing.

So the short version of your reply would be that there aren’t any workarounds that you are aware of. That’s how Premiere Pro works. thank you, David.

thanks, Matt. No difference if I press Enter on the keyboard vs the numeric pad, or if I do this on CC 2014 or 2015…just tried it and still does it.

no criticism here, Dave. just asking for help with the functionality of Premiere Pro.

Using an analogy: when i create a new folder on my desktop, my computer prompts me for a name. After I give a name and press Enter, the folder is created and I’m done. It would be strange if my computer then created a second new folder, which I did not request. However, that’s what seems to be happening here. In Premiere Pro, after I create a new bin and give it a name, it then highlights the next asset and prompts me to rename it. I only want a new bin–nothing more. Why would the software be coded such that creating a new bin implies that I also want to rename my other assets? It’s an unexpected behavior.

If there is a workaround, would like to learn about it. Sometimes a combination of keys can be pressed to bypass these things. If you or anyone reading my post is aware of any, please..

thanks Jeff! Everything turned out great 🙂 the 720×480 version of my HD 1920×1080 video turned out looking very nice. I burned my first DVD movie and played it on a projector and the quality held up nicely. The tiny black bars on the side of the video due to a slight difference in aspect ratio were negligible.

Hi, John. Thanks for quick reply 🙂 I forgot to add that I am not burning to Blu-ray, burning to DVD. My understanding is that currently the only format that a DVD player can understand is MPEG2 at STANDARD definition. DVD will not take HD files in 1280×720 or 1920×1080, but Blu-ray will. It makes sense you had success, since you burned HD video format onto a Blu-ray..not a DVD.

So, if this still holds true, I am faced with shrinking down from 1080 to 720×480 and hence my question.

I was hoping it could be done somehow with XML because, in fact, it IS a simple project. It doesn’t use any features that belong to the modern version, I think. Just a dozen videos placed on his timeline with basic cuts and some overdubbed audio files.

Okay, recommend any tutorials on how to pull this off? I’m not an XML expert but I am technical and can handle coding terminilogy, etc.

    Thanks for the reply!
