Yes, it shouldn’t be a problem with a .tiff but it is in his case.

If you want to save it with an alpha channel, save it as a .png not as a .tiff.

I’m guessing you’re still using FCS 2. You have to upgrade to FCS 3 if you want to be able to utilize the batch export. You would also be able to run compressor in the background while working on FCP.

If you only need to do it with one shot, a quick fix is duplicate your video track. Use a garbage matte for the one on top and mask out everything else except the shadow. Then apply a fast blur on it and a flicker filter. Make sure to feather your mask so that the shadows will blend in smoothly.

How far are the shadows from the subject? i.e. If it’s a person, is the shadow perpendicular to that person, casted on the ground? Or are they all pretty close to the subject?

July 15, 2008 at 10:12 pm in reply to: Another Final cut sync problem

The delay that you’re hearing is most likely a result of how your speakers are connected and the length of the cables you’re using. The best way to tell if everything is in sync, is to playback your video using an external monitor. So, output your video to your deck and onto an external monitor that has built in speakers.

Sorenson squeeze is all you need. Flash, Mpeg4, WMV or whatever format you need for those pesky clients who just won’t upgrade their systems. You’ll have to export an uncompressed QT file of your project in FCP, and then drag that QT file to the stage in Sorenson Squeeze.
