I’m guessing government work, with those guidelines…

  • Ann….that’s clever I like it…
and it’s about 99% of what Jordan wants.

Jordan…unfortunately…the Project panel is not a “live look” at folder(s) on your drive. It’s merely linked to whatever you import.

So While Ann’s technique will mirror and preserve the initial structure and file set…it won’t dynamically update to reflect changes being made at the file system level (other than clips becoming unlinked if they are moved in the file system and PPro can’t find them).

Switch mercury to software instead of GPU.

I’ll bet it’s a graphics card, driver issue.

    Hi Jim…

    not sure I understand exactly.

Media browser is like a finder or explorer which understands structured media. It’s not used to copy media, simply to interpret it, display it and load it into the current project from it’s current location. It doesn’t move the media from the camera or card.

    best practice is to:

    a) move the entire contents of the camera or card to project folder on your hard drive and use media browser to explore to that location for import into PPro.

    b) you can use PPro’s companion product, prelude to do partial ingests, transocde and rename media to a loction from the camera or card to your hard drive prioir to importing to PPro.

If I’m misunderstanding your needs, please let me know.

    thanks!

Mike…that’s interesting…have you ever thought about working forward by importing the needed sequences into a new project so that you can step back if necessary, but be lighter and faster at the current stage?

just a guess based on what you posted…

  • well…depending on the quality of the key you need…that could be done in PPro very well in mnay cases…with much faster performance than you’d get in AE…

but i don’t really know anything about your content…so that’s a very general answer.

PPro or AE won’t capture and key in real time…

but PPro will key in real time from a file over a background.

  • Declan….

    this is an interesting approach…

will it work with copy and paste attributes for a bunch of clips,in case it’s later decided that the other channels (or some of them) are needed…?

what about passing to audio post…?

    I assume omf? what’s the path forward…?

I’d probably try at the front end getting a pipeline set up with your audio team by doing some tests to make sure are no surprises later one.

well… ur doing insert and overwrite edits…which are whatever your keyboard shortcuts are for those anyway…(I use the FCP F10 and F9 I think)

to do fit to fill…you have to know what your filling and what your filling it with…

there’s only so many assumptions the software can make I’d think…

    maybe I just don’t understand what you’re looking for…

    sorry if I’m being dense….

    hi,

how about a 4 point edit?

    in/out source and in/out sequence…

by default system will prompt you how you want to deal with duration mismatches, fit to fill is an option…

    BUT

check your prefs…you can set a default for this…

    that help?
