Hi…

I’d be less concerned about the manufacturing labeling and only concerned of the formatting didn’t technically match your footage attributes.

is it ok or is it not matching?

You are correct….you do not put anything in the queue.

The queue populates when material is placed in the watch folder you specify.

what happens when you place just a media file (quicktime for example) into the watch folder?

what version of Adobe media encoder are you running?

Because FCP was based pretty much around the homogenous codec of Prores…

ref files could be done with pointer files which happen quickly…

PPro can do this with some formats (including ProRes and XDcam) which they call “smart rendering”

so it depends on your source if this possible…

Hey Chris…

bars don’t mean the same thing as FCP….

no bar means no problem

Yellow means probably can play back no problem

Red – likely to drop frames, rendering recommended

Green – Preview file has been rendered

Hi Dave…

you can always match a clip from the sequence back to the source monitor.

park within the clip on the timeline, press F (fcp keys)

it will load the clip back in to the source monitor, show you in/out markings and play head will be where you were parked in the clip on the timeline…

from there you could always make subclip to the project panel if you needed to for some reason…

I’d bet your lack of RAM is a pretty big contributor to your performance woes.

you should be able to actually watch the encode happen?
