If I had to guess….
It sounds like some Intel Processors may have some special hardware functions that can accelerate the the decode of H264. However in the case of your specific media…there’s something just different about it, where it causes the red frame.
Disabling the hardware…means that fixed specialized hardware isn’t used…and it’s handled as a typical software decode or by other aspects of the Adobe’s “mercury playback engine” tech (say a Graphics card)….this may result in slower performance, but you will get a result without the red flash….
