trimming original footage
I have a lot of long takes (don’t we all!) from which I may need only a few seconds. I understand the Premiere works with footage non-destructively, but is there any way to trim the actual source footage so as to save many Gb on my hard drives? The only thing I can think of is to render the desired clips loselessly using AE. Or should I stop my whining and just buy bigger drives?

Once you trim clips to your liking…
drop them in a sequence….
you can use File>Project Manage to create a new trimmed media set
lots of controls for media transcoding and file renaming too…
