However, what kind of footage will they be editing?
Knowing the codec and frame size would be helpful.

Al I don’t think PPro supports VTR emulation.
A Shuttle Pro controller is the closest you’d get to a wheel control.

any of your media files in the proj mgmt version have unusual names or weird characters in the filenames?
did you perhaps pull still off the web (for example) and not change the names prior to importing to PPro?

Can you tell what stage in loading it get’s to when it crashes?

Well…
using an IPAD with a VNC client software that shows you remote desktop of your computer with PPro running…then you throw clips in the source viewer and play them?
that’s about as simple as you could get I think…

Edit in HDV timeline as usual.
Create a DV timeline in the same Project.
Edit your HDV sequence onto your DV timeline. (load it into source viewer and then edit it to the DV timeline)
Export per usual (will require a render).
See if this works…

I’ve used this for CC setups as well.
When working scene to scene…
create a two timeline layout as described
top is your edit
bottom empty.
as you create a look for a shot based on a combination of fx filters
copy and paste that shot to the lower seqeunce.
then as you come across other shots from the same cam or needing the same treatment, you can copy from scene in the lower timeline and “paste attributes” to the clip in your main edit. very helpful.

Not that I know of.
Perhaps you should describe more of what you are trying to do nd we can help point you in an appropriate direction.
do you just need to trigger clip playout or a seqeunce of clips?
