I’m running Premiere Pro CS5 on Win7 Ultimate 64bit. I’ve had no issues with Premiere. recently I’ve been receiving this error message on startup.

PP Debug Event: Premiere Pro has encountered an error. [..\..Src\PictureButton.cpp-204]

I have the option to continue. When I click continue everything works fine. Googling the error hasn’t been fruitful. Any thoughts on what is causing this error and possible solutions?

I upgraded PP to 5.0.3. and restarted my machine to no avail.

every project. I started a couple of new projects to see if the project was corrupted but I’m still getting the message.

I was able to isolate the problem. When I create a new project and save the project on my desktop, I get no errors. When I create a new project and save the project to an external HDD I get the error every time. I cleared the media cache through premiere but that didn’t solve the problem. I’m wondering if there’s a file somewhere with cached data that’s causing the problem.

    SOLVED –
    I navigated to
    C:\Users\username\Documents\Adobe\Premiere Pro\5.0
    Deleted everything in the folder.

Restarted Premiere and the error didn’t return. I obviously lost some settings by deleting these files but not a big deal.

I have found the culprit file!!! 🙂

    Its [Effect_Presets_and_Custom_Items.PRFPSET] located in

    “C:UsersUsernameAppDataRoamingAdobePremiere Pro”

    Delete that and restart.
Apparently the newer Premiere builds dont like new projects to be made and loaded up after previous custom presets are made.
I have noticed it only does this on projects I have made AFTER creating presets.

    Hope that helps out gentlemen
