How are you handling the reimporting?
My understanding is that to avoid media duplication at the very least….
re-import of the sequence should happen through the media browser.
if you are doing this and still see media duplication….read on…
What kind of media container are your proxies? .mov might be a good choice because .mov’s allow metadata to be added to the file….
this is important in the initial creation stage of the proxy media….
here’s why…
in prefs BEFORE you make the proxies go to the media tab and enable “Write XMP ID to files on import”
in this was PPro SHOULD add a unique ID to the proxy media….
if PPro see that unique ID on subsequent reimports…. IT SHOULD allow it to connect to your existing assets without creating dupe assets…

No….something is definitely off…
I double click sequences to open them as timelines all day every day….
Any chance any of this is done via Media Browser Panel and looking at sequences in other projects?

How is your Memory allocated in Prefs?
Sometimes not allocating enough to the OS causes a pretty big DISK CACHE SWAP when switching in and out of PPro?

To drag out…. you should use the ripple tool….
also editing in the seq can be drivenby keyboard once the trip point(s) is/are selected
U will cycle thru the modes (orange equals rippling….red equals rolling)
< > with trim -/+ 1 frame
<> + SHIFT -/+ 5 frames\ will play around edit
up down will jump between edit points on selected trax….
Snap toggle is N as in “sNap” by default. 🙂
you can also nudge with
option + arrows (1 frame)
option + shift + arrow ( 5 frames )

I’m not on the latest….
so maybe there’s now some sort of pref related to this…
but what happens when you right click a sequence in the project panel?
do you still have the option to either “open in Source monitor” and “Open in timeline”?

I assume this means you want to use these in sequence clips in a sequence (next or multicam)
So you’d have to create the sequence and have it open first….
