Alright. I sent a support form off to Boris, to see if there is a 32 bit version of Avid FX6.2 I can use with MC5.5.

Or if I can trade in my key for AvidFX6.2 for a AvidFX5.8 key, which is 32 bit, and get an installer from them.

Read up on the Syncheck III. Seems like just what I`m looking for.

Going to pick up one of those, along with the Denon AVR-1312 receiver, that also has millisecond adjustable audio delay built in.

One last question, on the Syncheck end of things… you use the average latency readout it provides for the audio delay, correct?

I had heard that the latency readouts do tend to vary ever so slightly between measurements, due to there being no genlock between the video and audio systems.

Yeah, timing the script reading sounds like a good idea.

I`ll also record a quick voiceover sample of myself reading through the newsreport dialogue, to have some sort of audio to cut to, to get a rough of the rhythm down.

I will ask the VFX guys about the next steps after that, for tweaking the cuts when we get the news footage.

Thanks for the advice. About a week in the shoot, has been somewhat smooth…

At least the slate guys are being smart and writing scene 146C, as C146 on the slate, so I can keep track of things better. Though for some reason is still labeled as 146C on the script and call sheets…. Not good.

I`m going to have to bug the scripty about how he is going to slate the partial scene days. Make sure when they start the scene pickup, they go from the proper set up letter.

Sync N Link looks like it could work well. I can sync up the poly wav`s to the video, though the the editor only wants to cut with the mono mixdown on track 1, looks like will just delete the poly tracks from the timeline while working.

Can we use Titan or Virtual Katy to conform the separate poly tracks back in through timecode/metadata when sending the cut to ProTools, so the dialogue editor can have access to the separate tracks?

Alright. As I`m going to be doing roughs as they`re shooting, I`ll go with your suggestion to break the sequences into reels. It is much less cumbersome than making a ton of sequences for each scene/groups of scenes.

For the naming schemes, I`ll go with the 1A/1, 1B/2, and so on.

Reading over the script right now, and it looks like the writer has a few scene number heading that include letters, such as 4B, 4C, 4D. Etc.

I`m thinking how I would factor those into the naming schemes. The vast majority of scripts I`ve seen just go 1, 2, 3, 4… for the headings. No letters.

I`ll probably just ask them to refrain from using letters in scene headings. As the letter prefix has no purpose in the script, as far as I can see. The heading that do have letter headings do not even flow together.
