[Tom Daigon] “It was addressed in the beta testing of CS6 that I was a participant in”

Ok. So the fact that I am still experiencing it would indicate I have a problem somewhere…?

I guess calling Adobe Tech support is my best bet.

Sorry Tom what do you mean fixed months ago? Did you do what you mentioned above and then never had the problem again?

BTW Thanks heaps for your Hello PC my old friend article. It was very helpful. We’re currently looking at HPZ820’s with either NVidia Quadro 4000’s or GTX680’s. There’s still bit of debate going on about the best video cards to get.

Like you, we see the whole internet/virus thing as a constant PITA without any easy foreseeable solution other than as you say just editing off the net and just hooking up for updates and subscription renewals etc.

Oh well you gotta roll with the punches.

    Cheers,
    Alex

    Hi Tom,

Well that does sound weird. I did try that and it didn’t work for me.

The only way it seems I can progress is to create a new project and then import the specific sequences I’ve been working on from my original project into the new one and then re-import all the raw vision.

If you’re having similar issues then surely it must be some sort of bug??

    Thoughts?

Well having done a bit of investigating for some reason most of my sequence presets say that I need a required plug in that is not currently installed. Please re-install missing plug-in(s) and try again or choose another preset.

What is(are) the missing plug-in(s)?? Does anyone know?? Is this some sort of bug??

The only sequence presets where this message does not show up is all the DV presets, the DVCPRO presets and the Mobile & Devices presets. Every other preset is a no go and comes up with the message mentioned above.

Any help on this intriguing, frustrating, annoying problem would be most appreciated.

    Thanks,
    Alex

    Hi guys,

The download link on the website doesn’t seem to be working…

    Should it be?

Mmmm after further investigation I can see the waveforms when my timeline is zoomed in to a certain extent but they disappear at a certain point when zooming out on the timeline…

    …Any thoughts??

I’m using the GTX285 video card.

  • We bought the Genarts Sapphire plugins. They’re pretty neat. Some good transitions FX in their little bundle.

  • [Bill Davis] “Your entire problem is that they stopped taking care of YOU. So you’re pissed. And you feel slighted.”

[Bill Davis] “many here have been griping about it for a year, and after a year, they keep demonstrating that they haven’t been able to grasp how it actually works beyond a surface level.”

[Bill Davis] “I have a better tool for my personal style of editing. You have one you won’t or can’t embrace.

I win. You lose. Sorry about that. But the industry and life in general moves on.

But really, If all you have to contribute is “bad mouthing the big bad company” then I’d suggest you either contribute meaningfully or go over to read the other software’s groups.”

[Bill Davis] “It would also be a lot more useful then coming here and telling guys like me that we’re all just not clever enough to see the arrogance and sadness being imposed upon us by big bad Apple.”

Gee Bill get out of bed the wrong side or what? Bit of an unnecessary rant for a throwaway one liner isn’t it.

    [Jeremy Garchow]
This is completely dorky and boring, but when I test an NLE, I’ll do an edit, archive the project to LTO, restore the LTO, and reconnect the media on a different machine. I will also start a project on a laptop/local storage, move it to our networked storage in the office, and reconnect.

Without getting too crazy, this represents typical workflow scenarios. Whatever NLE does this the best will factor heavily in to our decision.”

    Mmmm boring, yes. Dorky, no.

A very good work practice to get into quite honestly. Should be more of it…

…er starting with us I believe. ahem!
