I am in the office (usually) at 10am.
There is also an option of ordering it here and putting a note in with the order (there will be a place to put it), “$945 total with the sales tax and shipping; I will submit the Teleproduction Exemption via email, fax or in person.”
Order notes override any other instructions and are adhered to with fervor. If we can’t – the order is not processed.
(Here is to hoping that the Gods of Creative Cow will forgive me for this blatant merchandising transgression, for they know I don’t transgress often.)

I am pretty sure CA resellers will match B&H price – some will even match it with sales tax and shipping included (with partial Teleproduction Exemption applied).

Amazon I think sells for the same price. They claim to have $200 worth of rebates.
My cost through distribution is $751.56 at Ingram Micro, $755.21 at D&H, so B&H/Amazon prices are likely to the lowest possible, or really close to it.

It’s certainly a recurring topic, “optimal components and configurations for a CS5.x optimized system on a given budget”. I think it’s a good idea to figure out the best format and maintain a few well-written FAQs with the input of fellow cows. E.g. Videoguys’ DIY config and pages are simply awesome – yet they don’t cover all the choices such as dual socket and tier 1 systems, and we could certainly cover that.

Those stripe sets often break when upgrading the motherboard, and it’s thus recommended to stripe media volumes using the OS. The computational and memory overhead is negligible.
Onboard RAID cards make sense for RAID1 boot volumes; for small RAID0 sets (up to 4 drives), OS striping is often the best.

However much I’d hate to be condemned by the Wrath of Bob, cards not specifically on BMD list do work, and BMD in fact says so:
“Suitable graphics cards can be purchased for less than US$100. More expensive graphics cards are no guarantee of compatibility as the features may differ from those above. Other graphics adapters that have a similar specification to those above may work, but these are the ones we have tested in house. Most cards newer than this will work.“
The statement in bold is an acknowledgement by BMD that some cards other than the ones they tested, will work.
In my case, GeForce 8800GTS did work flawlessly despite not being on the list and also being older and slower than the ones on the list.
BMD also says here that “Blackmagic Ultrascope requires a graphics card that supports Open GL 2.1 or better and have a Texture Fill Rate of >22,000 MT/s.”
In other words, research your card to ensure it does have hardware support for OpenGL 2.1 and texture fill rate, and it will likely work.

With i7-2600K, 16GB RAM, GTX570, 1.5TB boot and 4TB RAID0 media volumes, Win7 Pro 64, it comes out to $1,546.85 before you add monitor(s). Did I forget anything? If it were up to you, what changes would you make to it?
