November 6, 2015 at 10:31 am in reply to: Zoom into timeline changing to viewer automaticallyI have to click the mouse in each area to make it zoom in and out of that one – not just hover – how have you got it to do that?
But no, what I mean is it will zoom into the timeline and then it will ‘decide’ I want to zoom into the viewer next – I don’t…

July 11, 2014 at 11:27 am in reply to: Encore hangs/freezes when burning at “building slideshow” point but there isn’t one in the project.I’ve actually found the problem – you need to make sure you don’t use the Avid Codecs when you export your original QT file from Avid (ie, uncheck the box) – you can then encode the QT on Adobe Media Encoder and then into Encore.
Hope this helps someone!

July 9, 2012 at 4:46 pm in reply to: Highest quality MP4 from Avid .mov – direct from Avid or use a compression tool?Hi Michael,
Thanks for the reply, we’re already using RGB, however, for same as source exports and in fact, on some HD projects I am unable to use SaS as apparently I cannot use it for Long GOP media.
If I have to add a compression setting in Avid should I stick to ‘none’ or something like Photo jpeg?
Cheers
Alex

May 23, 2012 at 2:07 pm in reply to: archiving master vid files – best format for size/quality compromiseIf it helps, I managed to find a way to back up all our P2 rushes without compressing them (ie – camera dump) onto LTO4 tape using a standalone tape drive.
Each tape costs £20.00 and stores 800gb of material, garuanteed for 30 years – cheaper and more robust than Blu Ray or loads of hard drives.
Bit fiddly to get it to work with Windows 7 but managed it in the end.

February 24, 2012 at 10:15 am in reply to: Encore hangs/freezes when burning at “building slideshow” point but there isn’t one in the project. Thanks for the response, there is a fault with encore, I solved the problem by using version 1.5 in the end.
There is no slideshow, I think the error message is just a glitch and it happens to freeze at that point. I tried about 20 different methods of transcoding/exporting using encoder, sorenson or encore’s in built method, nothing worked.

Same problem – did you resolve?

Hi there,
I’m afraid the clip had gone – something got corrupted during the file transfer and as I was moving not copying there was no backup so I gambled and lost!
I had an FLV of the lost section and converted it back to QT, then imported it back into Avid to fill the gap, not ideal at all but the only solution in the end.
If it’s playing ok in the camera you could try copying it again (I expect you’ve tried that already) or how about using P2 viewer to watch it through the camera, then set up a new virtual P2 card and use P2 viewer to copy the file into that – again, you may have tried that.
Hope that helps.
Best

That is the answer I couldn’t seem to find. Thanks.
Shame the cameras can’t do it themselves, would have made more sense designwise

Having said that…some of the files seem to be reappearing – is P2 viewer a bit temporamental?!
