I don’t understand.. if the QT header is wrong, why should it play correctly in QT and be recognized as 25fps by MPEG Streamclip? The same Cinema Tools reads it as 25fps..

What are your specs?

In my short experience, I edited directly the h264 and it’s just jumpy after a cut. You just have to listen if the audio it’s okay and then export for a final look. Does it jumps even along a single clip?

I comment this so to ask everyone else if it’s just a matter of computer power. In that case, do we need more memory, more cpu, more what?

Ok I tried and it works, now fcp “sees” it as 25fps, but when editing only the audio is at sync, while the video is out of sync in the timeline, but in sync when I export the video. So my main problem is still I can’t have the avi file able for editing.
I’m still doubtful about:

1) Why compressor understands both from the original avi file AND from the QTpro saved file that it is 25fps and not 24/21?

2) Why only some of the files I converted were wrongly interpreted by fcp?

3) Why after the conversion the new file according to fcp has one or two frames more than the original?

After some analysis, it seems it’s a problem of MB/sec rather than fps, that leads fcp to interpret the files with a wrong fps rate. I made a short list of the files with mpeg streamclip info function:

a) File converted to mov and interpreted by fcp as 24fps:

Hrmpf. Not effective at all. The file is now a quicktime one, with a .mov extension, but in Final Cut Pro it needs to be rendered, and when it IS rendered, it IS terribly blurry. It’s a nightmare.. would I ever have what I’m looking for? Or at least an answer?

Okay, going to the personal level, I’m sorry about my answer “tone”, and, yes, when I want to get to the point I must say I’m unpleasant. This year I’m trying to switch from the unpleasant to a more comic tone, but for an unpleasant person is really difficult ;D !!

So again I’m sorry and.. there I go with another exercise,

I spent one day and a half to find an alternative but I’m still here and my chair is starting to assume my back-face aspect. I’m sorry to insist, but maybe you know another solution..

I know vlc, I know flip, I know I know I know.
What I’m looking for is a professional conversion. Simply putting the avi on a FCPro timeline generates a heavy loss of quality. My question is simple. How do I use the uncompressed avi and transform it in a uncompressed mov? Or anything that wouldn’t waste my footage?
Is quicktime pro able to do this?
Should I rent/buy/ask-a-friend a PC and do it from native windows environment?

Is there anyone facing the same problem?
