    i think I found it.

GET INFO on the document you are trying to open. OPEN WITH..and select the application.

the image files were created in photoshop, which was why ps always wanted to open it.

just a RANT here now, correct me if I’m wrong. but I upgraded from FCP 4.5 to 5 and got “Compressor 2”

The dolby audio encoding is only built in for customers of DVDSP 4 and Final Cut Studio…that is what I read in the Compressor 2 manual, pg. 93

“Note: Dolby Digital Professional encoding with Compressor is available only on computers that also have DVD SP 4 or Final Cut Studio installed. If you are using Compressor with distrubuted porcessing, DVD Studio Pro must be installed on each nodde that will be doing Dolby Digital Professional encoding.”

    WHAT!!!!
    HUH!??

( I only have DVDSP 3..and was not planning on upgrading soon. After deeming the Multicam feature unusable for a lot of my work, I was hoping that the built in AC-3 encoding would be a time saver.. HUH.)

Maybe I just can’t find the preset? It is NOT there..

and of course, I still have A. Pack.

well, I recently had the exact thing happen. no answers..but very odd, the sync was off by A LOT. It was captured in OS 10.4.1 and FCP 4.5..

the ONE tape that had this issue was shot in F1 ( 60i)
the rest of the 5 tapes were fine, even those shot in 24p.

    john-
if you do that, isn’t it a pain in the butt when you go to archive the project?

I was having pretty big file sizes and so I started dividing them up. After the project is over, I find it sucks to have to archive each project file..( or maybe I don’t need to do that?) ..seems kind of messy to me..but it does help open up the files faster.

August 25, 2005 at 9:43 pm in reply to: Multicam is great when the tapes are continuous BUT

    Craig-

Was wondering if you’ve gotten this feature to work for you? I think I have similiar issues and am about to declare this feature useless to ME and am sort of regretting money spent on the upgrade, etc. well, not really that, but I am disappointed.

NOT using mulitcam with TC synchronization.

-shooting 3 DV cameras, usually 60 min tapes. for 80 minute content
    -involves reel changes
-many times we do not pull out a fully empty tape at the start. (so the tape will have content before and afterwards that will then need to be edited with. Somehow, I feel it is hard to organize these with the multicam workflow to avoid confusion.
-2-3 separate audio sources, continuous. recording

anyways..after several hours of trying this out, I’m going to go back to the “old way.”
