Tell me if I’m reading this wrong, but you’re importing an MPEG-2 file from a DVD, making changes, then rendering it to a new MPEG-2 file? Anytime you render or recompress an already compressed file the quality is going to drop fast. Do you have access to the original footage?

  • Thanks everyone for your responses. I think one of these you’ve mentioned should do the trick.

  • Thanks for the quick reply John.

Another stupid question: Will/can my system use one of the firewire interfaces for all the system sound or will I still need another card for other programs?

Thanks for posting that video. What other videos on your site were cut in Vegas? It’s nice to see examples of professional work done on Vegas. Do you do everything in Vegas, or do you use other programs for grading, etc.?

Thanks, I’ve been looking for the best mobo to use with the AMD 4800. Did you run into any issues with it and PP 2.0?

What motherboard are you running the AMD 4800 on?

Wow, I didn’t realize Noise Reduction was an additional program. I thought it was just part of Sound Forge. A few months ago when I started contemplating a new NLE purchase, I think Vegas + DVD was about $700, so I was very surprised to see it for $400. I currently use Avid (Pinnacle) Liquid Edition and I’m ready to see what else is out there.

That price just seemed really cheap. Just wanted to make sure I wasn’t missing something. Is it worth getting Sound Forge bundled with it or are there plenty of audio tools within Vegas?
