Same problem here…annoying as hell!!
THe big problem is that i imported comps from 2 different AE Projects…therefore there is absolutely no way to export from premiere, because i can’t open two AE projects at the same time.

The only solution for me was to export from AE and then use the exported video instead of the linked comp. Which is not a good solution because doesn’t take benefits from the (not working) dynamic link.

The amount of bugs i’m finding every day in Adobe softwares is incredible

I actually found the issue….which fixes my problem. It’s the stupidest issue ever and it concerns nvidia drivers and not AE.

If you go to (i have the italian SW, so i’m going to translate literally) nVidia control panel -> video (on the bottom) -> Change video settings -> advanced -> then you change from limited (16-235) to maximum (0-255).

Now your exported videos should look better with blacks properly rendered.

What’s strange is that if you play the video with VLC (before applying my fix) it looks washed out. If you play it with Windows Media Player it looks good.

The shot wasn’t reversed. If you look at left Van Dammes’ ankle at min 0:40 you can clearly see the pants over the shoe. At minute 0:42 the pants border come out of the shoe in a perfect natural way and stay on the ankle.

If the shot was reversed, how could the pants go on the shoe in that way?

ARE YOU KIDDING ME?? o.O Oh my god, that really worked!!! Now the blacks are restored…but…that’s so strange…i have some question now!

1)Before changing the setting you said, the original footage was perfect, and the rendered video was not good. Now, after having changed that setting, the original footage is still perfect, but the rendered video now have become perfect!
So: if the setting is only about the output from GPU to monitor and not about the AE rendering, why do the original footage is perfect in both situation, but the rendered video is not? What really changed with that setting?

2)Is it true that the H.264 in AE is not good, like Paul said?

3) why does nvidia has a so stupid setting by default?

I always programmed in C and Java and i never had to type “else” every time i type “if”. That’s new for me.

Ok, now i understood. Thanks for your reply!

I thought i could get better results, in video conversion, with CUDA…but i was wrong!
So, is there any way to get faster results in conversion(I mean another software)?

Another question: does After Effects support CUDA?
