I just changed my SOny Ex1 for an XF 300 and I am entirely satisfied. From my self opinion, XF300 is more easy to use with more function that are easily accessible without having to go trough the entire menu. Also, all the accessories are way less exepensive. That was the main reason for me to change. Memory is cheap, very cheap compare to SXS cards. But pay attention to select a brand of compact flas cards that is approved by Canon. Otherwise, you will have problem recording files that last more than 4 minutes, wich is not practicle at all.

Only negative thing I have to say about the XF300: not very efficient in low linght condition and way to much dept of field, especially when you pass to this cam from an Ex1.

I own a XF 300. I have no problems with Premiere Pro. It might sometimes take a while to import files, but after it works great. However, you must have a computer strong enough to manage the 50mbps. I use a quad core with 8Gb or ram

After weeks of pulling my hair, I have finally found a solution! The problem isn’t my system: it’s a monster. And it seems that a lot of people using the same camera than me (SonyFX7) have the same problem.

My solution does not fix the problem in PPro, but it allows me to use my HV footage in PPro. Just download a program called HDV Split and use it to capture footage from camera. After, just import the files in PPro and that’s about it! PLus: you can set the program to automatically detect scenes and it creates a new file for every scene adding a number after the title.

    Thanks everyone for your help!

If red images are placeholders, why is the sound not synchronized? And there are no problem at all when I capture the same tape with another editing system.

I really need to fix that problem….

    Hi Mike,

I have tried to capture on several drives, it does not change anything. The missing images are only in Adobe PremierePro cause if I play the captured file in another player, there are no red images ( I can clearly see the red images in premiere, but not at all in windows media player )The problem is in premiere…
