    Sorry… I don’t think I explained what I am trying to do… well.

I recorded the speaker speaking to the PowerPoint that I have posted as a video on my blog site. I did that as an example.

I need to get the video timed properly to match the speaker. I figured the best way to do it was to recreate the PowerPoint in after effects and then overlay that on the video of the speaker. The 2 must be in sync.

The video I posted didn’t use timings or wait for me to hit the mouse button. If I wanted to just have a video that shows the PowerPoint I could use the example on my blog. But I have to time it to the speaker’s words.

I suppose you might have understood this, but I don’t understand what camtasia will do for me other than recording actions on my screen.

Please elaborate on what you are suggesting…

Yes i have actually used auto trace, but like david said, for high contrast stuff.

is that the position of the camera through out the whole thing?

if it is why not take frames where she isnt in the spot where she was, then blend them together?

another thought, and i have no idea if it would work, could you do a reverse of time difference?

    just throwing out ideas. 🙂

May 29, 2008 at 6:59 am in reply to: Text on Fire

    Hello all

I have been working on the same problem. I used a tutorial, particle playground on fire by Maltannon, and used the techniques for creating fire with particle playground.

There is one strange thing that PP does to any footage that becomes the fire however. It moves the fire to the left and squishes it a little as well.

When I had it all set up the way I wanted, I placed my fire composition behind my text layer and tried to line them up. Every time I turned on the fire particle playground squished it.

The fire is pretty good in my opinion, but after 2 previous posts for help from this site no one has had any insights or suggestions.

I haven’t revisited the situation for a couple of weeks but I have a project that I want to title with text that is on fire.

If anyone has any ideas, please post them.

You could track the shorts and then create a solid layer that uses his skin color, then mask the solid to match the shape and apply the tracking data.

    or…

you could just duplicate the footage and use some effect that only touches the black. that way the shorts are perfectly in place.

i think there are probably a few ways you could pull it off.

    AH HA!

I just rewatched the Tutorial by Maltannon on creating fire and I noticed that he has the same problem! The fire is slightly to the left of where the hands are.

    Does anyone know why?

just a further note, i have tried with a photoshop text picture and i get the same results. something tells me to not even bother with illustrator as it is a particle playground problem not the type of object causing the shifting to the left.
