    Hello all

I am trying to use particle playground on some text to create a fire effect. Using some tutes I have watched I have come up with my own fire effect that I am applying to some text.

The first problem that I have is the fire effect when on moves the whole text to the left at least 50 pixels if not more. On screen the text shifts about an inch. I don’t want this behaviour but I don’t know what is causing the shifting.

Is this how particle playground interacts with text? Should I be using a picture of text from Photoshop or illustrator? I don’t need to do anything to the text other than have the flames coming from it.

The second problem is how many particles are being created. During the first few seconds of the composition the number of particles reaches 30000 to 35000 and really slows my computer and my ability to work. I cut back on the life of the particles over time and they do come back down to 1000 to 2000 particles, but that first bit I would guess is normal because of the delay in the change of the lifespan. I followed Maltannon’s tute on how to create the fire and he uses the persistent property mapper to use red and green to manage the opacity and y force. I added the life span to the blue and made it go from a min of .1 to a max of .5. I did this to cut back the number of particles my computer needed to render and it seems to work, except for the first few seconds of the comp.

Any ideas or suggestions would be appreciated.

just a further note, i have tried with a photoshop text picture and i get the same results. something tells me to not even bother with illustrator as it is a particle playground problem not the type of object causing the shifting to the left.

    AH HA!

I just rewatched the Tutorial by Maltannon on creating fire and I noticed that he has the same problem! The fire is slightly to the left of where the hands are.

    Does anyone know why?
