Hi Geoff, I don’t have a solution for you yet, but I can commiserate.

I had a shoot in a small room in front of a BIG window on a partly cloudy day and things got real ugly real quick. Only a single camera shoot, but my white balance was all over the place as the sun would peek out from, then go back into clouds. I’m trying to match this interview with another one I did in the same spot on a completely cloudy day in front of the same window. I’m following this post to see if others have a similar experience and what advice is offered.

    Thanks for posting!

Have you tried parenting your text layer to your mask? Parenting is a super useful tool that often that gets overlooked.

I’ve had this problem before. Try this out, it worked for me and Javier Mercedes is amazing.

Hi Darby, yes I am using Trim Paths on a shape layer with a fill. That’s helpful. I guess that’s my problem. I’ll try using a mask instead.

    Thanks!

[Chris Wright] “t would depend on how loud the mic bleed was, but there is an option called duck-against-dialogue in it though.”

Hey Chris, two things. First. Thanks for telling me the term “mic bleed”. I knew there was a better name for it.

Secondly, I’ll give auto ducking a try. I’ve played with it before, but not in this context.

    Thanks!

Melvin, Anthony Q. Ardiss is the man. Love his courses on Lynda. Any idea if he offers classes where he provides feedback from coursework?

Hi Shane, I love Lynda.com courses and the instructors. I’ve got a membeship and have been working my way through a lot of courses. I’m hoping to find a course where I can get timely and constructive instructor feedback and that’s the only reason I’m leaving “Lynda Land” for now. It seems to me that courses like that are hard to come by outside of film school.

    Thanks for the suggestion!

  • [Blaise Douros] “Do a fresh, in-camera format of the card”

I did the in-camera format and still experienced the same problems. I did switch to a faster SD card and that did the trick.

    Thanks for your help!

  • The card is SanDisk 80mb/s. I thought that might be the issue so I swapped it with a 90mb/s card. It doesn’t really help me figure out what was wrong at the time because once I got back, the card(s) was working just fine. Bizarre.
